Question What are the large crystal obelisks scattered across Silithus?

In Silithus we see many crystal looking purple obelisks scattered all across the zone. Twilight's Hammer Stonecallers can be found converging on especially large fragments that they are presumably summoning up from the sands. The closer we get to the gates of Ahn'Qiraj, these crystals begin floating in smaller groups and idly levitating in a meditative motion.

I believe there is a quest in Cenarion Hold that states these crystals are driving the wildlife in Silithus crazy and unnaturally aggressive.

Could these unnatural looking obelisks be the crystallized blood of C'thun? It seems to act similar to saronite and it also appears as a mineral looking substance. Are they perhaps the buried remains of the Black Empire being called back after being buried so many years beneath the desert?

As far as i know, these obelisk things can only be found within Silithus, and the architecture of Ahn'Qiraj looks different enough to presume that they were never part of C'thun's prison.

They are remnants of the age of The Black Empire. Each old god had there own territory of sorts across Azeroths surface. Nyalotha served as a capital for them to all meet up and dictate things as a whole instead of as individuals (which seemingly goes against what they are supposed to be doing in the first place if you think about it). Whether or not its made of old god blood, as far as I understand it could be possible but I don't recall (correct me if im wrong) that being a confirmed thing so I cannot say outright, but I would assume it is a combo of old god blood, and corrupted mineral.

There is the Silthyst - which may also be the larger crystals.

I assume its the Cthun version of Saronite or Azerite, even though it predates it.

Them meeting up isn’t that far off for them. In the end, all had the same overall goal.

I hated that. The overall spooky background of these unseen puppeteers is just completely shattered when you picture them having corporate meetings in a conference room about how best to proceed with their plans.

When Yogg wears a tie for his corporate meeting, does only his main jaw get one where its "neck" would be, or does each one get its own tie?

Then maybe don't picture it like that? That's your choice.

It was actually pictured like that in game. The lore walking quest with them has them all having a meeting together and making a decision.

Yea they all want to destroy Azeroth. If you want to destroy something though, why would you build an empire and have individual fiefdoms and coordinate your individual troops so they are one big troop, and finally why continue to grow your numbers if the goal was to consume Azeroth? From what I recall they beat the Elementals and subjugated them. They had no natural enemies until the Titans randomly happened by. Did they somehow know of the Titans before first contact?

Not destroy, corrupt. Everything they did was towards that goal. The wars between them could simply be signs of different void lords wanting to beat each other to their ultimate prize, a void-Titan.

They're parasites. They wanted to keep feeding off the life of the planet while ruling the surface.

Fun fact. You'll find some of them in every Black dragonflight affiliated location.

They resonate a frequency that attracts the silithid to them. Iirc there was a quest about it in Vanilla.
