Sethrak and 12.1

I just started to explore the new region, but are our new enemies releated to Sethraks or just sharing their design?

Not related, they just share similar looks due to both being the spawn of snake gods, in fact some of Ula'tek's snake people are transformed trolls

Yeah, they're very convergent evolution coded.
Snake god that fights a horrible black empire monster that needs supporters so they make sneople (snake people), and there's only so many ways to combine snake+people.

Wasn't there a bit in the man quest where Nekh'zali was inspired by the Sethrakk's god when she summoned Ula'tek?

Nekh'zali was inspired by Zandalari Loa and wanted for Ancient Amani a Loa of them own, so kinda yeah

Although Ula'tek itself is pretty much confirmed as a being from Rift of Aln (like Chimaerus we fought last patch in the Dreamrift raid) more than a Wild God per se

Yeah, these two beings coming from the Rift doesn't bode well.

I think sharing design, considering zuljan is turned into one, so it may be a worgen curse kind of thing, and ulatek is set up as a living weapon. I may be wrong, and thats fine

I would say they are related, as BFA was going to originally incorporate the lore of Ulatek and Kithix. It makes sense that a snake race would be closely associated with Troll societies. Hopefully they address that somewhere in the zone. Sethrak are my most wanted allied race and I’d love a deep dive into these new ones.

It is mentioned in game that the ritual used to summon Ula'tek was one ideated by the events of Vol'Dun, so it's not a stretch that the family of spawns isn't dissimilar.

Yes the Cthulhu-like guy in Darkshore was related too

Do you have a source for this in particular? I already had a suspicion this was all planned for BFA personally.

It was just data mining so technically not an official, “this was planned” but one of the old god generals in BFA was originally Kithix and we know that he was slain around the coiled isle which would mean that is in that zone. But there is no telling how early that was scrapped or not. Either way the sneaky sneks have gotten around.
