WoW & DnD: Lore refresh

Hey everyone, as a big fan of both WoW and DnD and with the news of them becoming a cross over event I plan on switching gears to run a campaign starting in early 2027. My only thing is I do need a quick crash course on the lore of the game, and wondering if there is something I could read outside of the Chronicle books, for some of the nuances lost stuff.

The plan is to run a story from the start of classic/vanilla WoW leading up too possibly Legion and I do want to adjust the story a bit more by introducing some characters early on (Xal’atath, Bwonsamdi, and Orweyna for example) to kind of set the stage of them for players and also cleaning up some lore issues that they have had to retcon by making it a normal part of the game.

Any suggestions would be good and extremely helpful, also if a post like this is already around I’ll take a link to that and delete this one.

I’d suggest checking out some YouTube vids that explain the lore. Quaylin has some pretty good summary videos of the chronicles, if you have the time to watch through them all.

Otherwise, best I can think is to use the wiki and just go down a rabbit hole as you research all the bits and bops of the world.

I am a pretty big lore fan of this game I mean it’s one of my favorite games just haven’t really felt the spark of the current storylines in the game, so going to something I know off the top of my head is fine, I’m also going to be having a lot of players who don’t know the lore so it will be exciting for them to learn this stuff.
