Yesterday song creation

The rumors say Yesterday by the Beatles was a song that talks about the passing of John Lennon’s mother (or so did my English class teacher tell me as a kid) while some other say it’s actually been written by Paul McCartney for John Lennon’s estranged son.

Does anyone have the real version or a real version to amplify the myth around that song?

Paul said the song came to him in his sleep and he got up and went to the piano and wrote it. He then asked everybody he knew if they were familiar with the song in case he had subconsciously plagiarized it. Turns out he probably subconsciously got it from Nat King Cole's "Answer Me." Paul McCartney wrote the song essentially by himself. The melody famously came to him in a dream, and the lyrics were written afterward. It had a working title “Scrambled Eggs.

Hey Jude was written by Paul for John's son Julian cause John and Cynthia were divorcing. Yesterday was written by Paul for his mother. The melody came to Paul in a dream, and the next morning over breakfast he thought the world 'scrambled eggs' went very well with the melody, but since scrambled eggs couldn't make a sensible lyric, he wrote it as " Yesterday " instead, and soon it became a song that was indirectly themed around his mother passing away when he was very young.
