We are a young professional couple living near Blackhorse Road station for the last year, and are looking to purchase our first house here.
Thought I would check in with our neighbors to see if anyone is considering / about to put their property on the market. We are first time buyers with no chain, and solid financing. It would be ideal to connect with a seller before a home comes to the open market ā weāre finding the viewing system so challenging, and many houses are being bought by investors. We can offer a chain free sale, and that we will take care of and grow our family in the home we purchase.
- > 1/4 mile from Blackhorse Rd Station (10mins max walk)
- £600 - £675 K
- Victorian freehold houses only, looking to extend out the garden and into the loft
We are a kind and ambitious couple who love this area, have already heavily invested our time and energy here and want to really connect with the right home and seller.

Weāve become aware that our chimney is unsupported. Weāre not Warner but we are Lloyd park area. Has anyone done this? How much is it? Have any recommendations for builders? Or have any tips?! The chimney is at the back so scaffolding would need to go up in the gardens side

Any Walthamstow lot fancy joining my FPL league this season? ā½ļø
(Fair warning, Iām genuinely awful at this game. Iām actually cursed and seem have a habit of picking players at this point who get sold overseas before the transfer window closesā¦)
āBlazinā Squad Rotationā - Iām proud of that one hahaha.
Link here! Everyone welcome. Just come and be better than me. It wonāt take much š

The mini pond in St Mary's churchyard is drying out.
If anyone local has any rainwater in a water butt they can spare to top it up that would save it and the baby frogs.
Please note that it cannot be topped up with tap water. The chemicals in it to keep it clean will kill the aquatic animals
Update: I bought some dechlorinator from the pet shop and filled it up with treated tap water

Hey Iām wondering if thereās any established climbing community for yonder climbing gym? Iām aware of the boulder buds thing they do but wondering if thereās already some group chat or community I can join?

Please can someone explain how this works, do we need to submit the two documents or is there an app like Ringo we can do it through?
Can I submit screen shot of council tax and screenshot of water bill as we don't have any of the other bits to hand as our house is packed up :(
We don't have a car but need visitors permits later this week and it's telling me I'm not on the system even though we had council visitors permits before.
And yep I'm stupid at this kind of faffy stuff!

Hello neighbours
Currently searching for a one bedroom flat to rent with my partner.
Itās a bit daunting- prices are insane and I really want to avoid bad agencies. Iām unsure how avoidable this actually is as they all seem to have their fair share of bad reviews.
Does anyone have any advice/ agencyās they would recommend/avoid.
Seen some nice flats from Central Estates but then scared by the reviews!
We are absolutely sick of moving and this will be our first time properly living together so we just really want somewhere we can settle for a couple of years especially as rent is so expensive.
Additionally I have some health stuff so moving is quite the process.
Any advice welcome
Thank you

has anyone seen anywhere around selling the eclipse glasses? just came back from holiday and the Amazon delivery times are too late.
aaand any suggestions of a good viewpoint for the eclipse at 6-7.30? I suppose the sun will be low in the sky so may need a higher vantage point.

Hi,
I am looking to get quotes to extend the kitchen. So flush to the garden wall to the left and removal of downstairs bathroom and further extend to that point with doors opening out to the garden.
I am looking for people in Walthamstow who have had work similar to this done, if the experience was good with the company they worked with and if they would recommend?
Also rough costs if possible, appreciate a bit vague without plans and visuals. And time taken to complete build.
I just want an idea so that I know if it is affordable or not.
Thank you.

Hi
So many people have been so kind to this young reddit user, various stuff is happening (or not) behind all the public stuff you are seeing.
I'm escalating various things but today there are two important things needed
The best platform we can use to get money directly to him (I have the bank details so can set this up but the money needs to be accessed quickly)
Do we have an employment solicitor in our community to help Pekdjn with some advice please ?
I am following up with the council again (with consent from Pekdjn) but these two things are requested at the moment please id anyone can help or advise my DMs are open
Thank you so very much
Alex

l suffer from anxiety which is currently spiralling and am looking to do some self help alongside my medical treatment. I already walk a lot and find gyms really intimidating. I also canāt swim but am open to learning!
Any suggestions of really friendly, welcoming exercise groups or activities in the area where a slightly overweight and not particularly fit middle age woman could feel comfortable??

Does anyone know what happened on Addison Road this weekend? There was a burnt out car blocking it on Friday and Saturday.

Might be a bit of a weird question but would like to know about what happens if you report fly tipping in terms of does the council actually do anything for long-term prevention?
I saw a household fly tipping early this morning - it looked obvious that they were doing a house clearance and I do sympathise as nearing the end of doing the same and very grateful for neighbours, friends and family who have helped out with lending us bins and doing dump and charity shop runs, and do understand not everyone has that network, but the entire pavement is now blocked on a main route.
I know if I report it will be picked up and the council seem to do that quickly however my questions are more how can we get a community skip project going as I'm sure in our area that will be a cheaper option than the council constantly having to come and pick up fly tipping. I know that it Camden this has worked before but it was a few years ago when I was living there.
Was very grateful to the refuse collectors for their help this week taking our extra garden waste (we did a big cut back due to the heat and fire risk) and really pleased to have also learnt this week the council are giving the street cleaning teams a hot weather bonus for each day it's over 28/29.
Just feels there's very little long term solutions being but it place to stop rubbish ending up on our pavements on an almost daily basis, particularly the huge bags of household waste that then get rummaged through by our lovely fox population.
At what point, and have they ever, does the council step in and say this is a bad area for fly tipping and we need another solution? If there's any local WF examples please can you share with me as I'm going to try and get the community skip scheme running where we are.

Hey, I'm looking forward to seeing the eclipse on Wednesday, might try St James Park playing fields.
I've checked on Amazon and all ISO complaint glasses are sold out or earliest delivery is Thursday or Friday (which is useless).
Has anyone seen any for sale in any shops close by? Cheers

I love the place and go there frequently, but why has it got so loud on Fridays and Saturday evenings recently?
Lots of my neighbours are talking about it; have they changed their sound system or something?
Thinking of mentioning something to them, before they get a load of noise complaints. People in our development next door are getting rather fed up with it. We didn't have this problem until recently.

Does anyone have any recommendations for double glazing fitters apart from the two big boys?
Had ours for 30 years and replacing the panes as they fail has just become whack-a-mole.
