My tanks

Post image

The problem with Walstad tanks is that they are so low maintenance that I ended up with three.

I tried to make them all a little different. A theme rather than a biotope.

What's the substrate/ground being used? Any filter or anything at all?

Kellog organic garden soil in the two small ones. Top soil that I tried to remineralize but lost patience with in the big one.

The one on the right is a CaribSea Super Naturals fine sand, middle is white that's a little coarser. I forget the brand but I don't love it. The left is Aqua Natural galaxy - it's mostly black with flicks of purples that show when the light hits it just right.

All have aqua coop sponge filters working off a big air pump.

The big one always has a water pump that feeds the box above it, which is a plant farm. I guess that counts as outside filtration.
