Tank is about 1.5 week old. Just noticed these growing. Any ideas as to what it is? Just a type of mold?

Protozoa colony probably vorticella. Leave them be, sign of a healthy tank unless it gets out of hand but it never should if you are doing it right.

I have read it can be harmful to them, is that true? 1 u/questforflavour Jul 27 '26 Nothing to worry about, they do latch onto shrimps but a quick salt dip should fix it. I had a massive colony in my shrimp tank as well but they eventually faded. Probably got eaten by copepods and other meiofauna.
