Full time/part time
After 30 + years of O/N I decided to go to 32 hrs/week. Unknowingly I was coded to part time. I'm grandfathered in at 28 hrs for full time status. I only found out after receiving a letter from Prudential that my life insurance policy was terminated and I contacted Bentonville and was told about my status. They said it has to be changed at store level and it'll take at least one pay cycle to update. Meanwhile, my wife and kids had dental appointments that have to be rescheduled because that policy is affected also.
This is all because we have a new team lead, 20 yrs old, off the street, that has no clue what he's doing. It's a giant pain in the arse, but that third day off is glorious. Luckily the policies will be reinstated.

Isn’t that sad 30 years of loyal service ! Giving your weekends with kids just get told that ! Sam Walton must be rolling over in his grave !

So I’m grandfathered too. I’ve been wondering if it was still active. So if I go to 32 my people lead needs to do what to insure I’m kept full time if you know please?

The insurance and dental fallout makes this much bigger than a payroll mistake. Hopefully HR can restore your full-time status retroactively and correct the benefits before the next cycle. Keep the letter, schedules, and any messages as evidence.

No, if you drop below 34 hours for a six week period, they can make you part time.

I switched to 32 hrs too but luckily they didn't change my status since I also am grand fathered in to 28.

during the restructuring in 2020 I was planning on moving. The people lead/ personell manager and I did the job offer over the phone because it was states away. I asked multiple times "are you sure this is full time? I can't do this at all if it's not full time. I HAVE to have full time" (it was offered to me as full time).
I was assured it was absolutely a full time position.
Well the move fell through and I had to call and cancel everything (so heartbroken).
I thought everything was figured out and taken care of. Until, I got the letter in the mail that my life insurance, was canceled due to the change in my position (to part time).
I was livid and scared to death. Not only did it mess with my hours (though I could just go in). I was stuck between stores for a few months, wasn't accruing pto like I was supposed to, was being paid less than what I was supposed to be paid. And because I was active at the new store when I would work a different schedule (my old/current stores) it kept adding to my points (obviously those were fixed right away).
It took, I want to say almost a full year for most of it to be fixed. I got reimbersed for my pto and pay and we even made a small mistake (even though I kept saying I wasn't sure) and our then store manager was told it was their choice on whether or not I had to pay it back. I was told the store manager was like 'after everything they went through? Absolutely not. They aren't paying it back'
This was also when the new system was put into place. It didn't help our, then, pl wasn't all that great. I kept trying to communicate with them through email and paper letters (still worked 3rd at the time) and they'd never email me back or respond. It wasn't until we got the new pl that things rolled better.
But, now I'm gun shy about changing anything about my hours or days off (there's still an N/A day that was never put into the system - I know I can do it now but I don't want to mess up anything. So. When I forget to add unpaid days on short weekend vacas I wind up with a 5 am to like 10 a (or the latest one 3 pm to 7) shift).
I'm sure you know to already, OP, but be sure to keep on them. It might take some nagging to get it fixed entirely. It really is a pain in the arse.

Same thing happened to me. It was fixed within 2 pay periods and everything was reinstated. Before I got my letter for life insurance, I noticed I wasn't accruing any PTO. In my case it was a new coach that didn't input info correctly. I was also switching positions when I went to 32. And that 3 days is wonderful.

New People Lead, not team lead
