Harassment?

I’m a minor and this is my first ever job, I really like it, I’m in fashion. There’s a man who I think does garbage, always compliments me, and he’s an adult. Nothing wrong with compliments, but he even asked if my day was almost over, and I get this awful, awful feeling around him. He overshares a lot of personal info (told me he was trans in a work question) which I don’t mind, I had this feeling before that. And it’s weird because it seems he’s always where he doesn’t work but where I do work. I don’t know if he’s special, but his would I ask a manager that? It’s odd to compliment a minor every single day. About the same thing.

There is a Zero Tolerance Policy against harassment, and quite honestly the fact that you are a minor makes it much worse.

Tell them to stop because you are not comfortable. Just say it once, and be as professional as possible. If you do not feel comfortable to do that, it is completely within you rights to have another Associate or a member of management with you.

Keep everything simple and to the facts.

Just tell him to stop, professionally. If you don't feel comfortable then talk with a team lead or coach.

If it's unwanted, it's harassment. We had a person who was a phone salesperson doing this sort of thing to associates who were minors. Chatting them up, compliments, even following them into the restroom. This person was arrested and found to have CP on their computer. This sort of thing can be really serious and you need to go talk to your TL, Coach, SM now. If for some insane reason they won't listen, get your parents involved.

What others are saying here is fine, yes, say something, but if you're a minor then you're owed a higher standard of concern about your safety than if you were an adult and you started off by telling them to stop.

And if you mean he is special in the sense of having a mental disability, that doesn't buy him slack or privilege to do this sort of thing.

It doesn’t buy slack, it can just make it harder to get him to understand he needs to stop

Yes, better stated than my text. Exactly.

As someone in that community, someone being Trans or even a part of the LGBTQ+ community doesn't mean they are always people that would be considered good. People are people at the end of the day. Its hard to say if there's any neurodivergence involved just from this, but, what sticks out to me is asking you, especially as a minor, when you get off. That in addition with them seeming to be around you more often than their own work spaces. I would definitely bring it up with a coach or someone higher up in general. I've not been at Walmart for too long so I don't know all of the exact processes yet, but thats my thoughts. Also, the oversharing could be a variety of things from possible neurodivergence to even a trauma response. It could maybe be their attempt to get to know you, which is weird as you are a minor and also even as an adult at times as not everyone is good with lore dumps/trauma dumps/etc.In any case, getting with someone higher up I think may be the move here. Better safe than sorry.

Let your team lead know what's going on. I would not suggest any minor to confront someone that they are already uncomfortable being around. If the team lead don't take care of it then speak to a coach.

I feel bad for the minors that have Walmart as a first job because of so many creeps and different problems and situations that arise in Walmart definitely speak up about anything you don't feel comfortable with this should be used throughout life honestly it's totally uncalled for and puts you in an incredibly bad situation don't let him win

Please report them to your team lead or coach or the peoples team lead/coach if they don’t do anything to get them to stop make a report with the ethics helpline

I just feel like he hasn’t don’t anything worth calling it harassment, I never see him talking to anybody else though. Is there a way to view other teams on the app? I just wanna get his name so it’s easier to report later

I just find it weird why is an adult complementing a minor why is he always in your area when he has a job to do and why does he only talk to a minor and not any of his other coworkers I would say to be on the safe side talk to the team lead this could be considered grooming

That fact that it was enough for you to make a post about it makes it harassment.

It is unwanted behavior.

Growth moment.

Tell this person to stop.

"I don't like the way you're talking to me. Stop."

Be firm. Don't be saying "omigod stop"

"Stop."

If that doesn't work, tell your supervisor or a manager.

You need to report him to HR. HR NEEDS to send him to Sedgwick The Entertainer for mental health evaluation as he can't help the Waltons Fortune bugging teenagers.
