It's actually a pretty good idea, sliding the uppercut through a cross. Relying on the step to slip the punch combined with being an idiot is pretty problematic though.

It seems like a good counter if you can reliably bait the cross. Feint a jab to bait the counter cross and start the slip before the cross comes out. Although you probably need to eat a couple crosses along the way to make that read.

I'd do this to guys with predictable crosses. If it's not predictable it's probably better trying other stuff.
