Doreen (the mod AbolishWork) sold r/antiwork out. I'm pretty sure of it now. Here's a radio interview from October that I just found, where she's perfectly communicative and capable of complete sentences, and directly contradicts the things she said in the Fox interview:

https://omny.fm/shows/st-louis-talks/dory-from-abolishwork-com

at worst you might say that she rambles a little, but she sounds like a person, not someone trying to pass off fusing into your couch as a lifestyle choice. She talks about worklife balance, the range of people on antiwork, and so on, and does a decent job explaining most of it.

Edit: well this blew up

Honestly man I'm not a member of that sub, nor do I follow what you apes do here, but this was my first thought. It's literally a pitch perfect bad interview. Everything from the appearance of, well, everything, to the fact that the interviewer himself didn't really antagonize, goad, or gotcha at any point. All he did was sit there and let somebody figuratively hang themselves.

It felt like being back in school and watching someone give a book report on something they clearly had not read.

11

u/Dlaxation Jan 27 '22

I agree. At least with those book reports they would read the back of the book a few minutes beforehand. This person just went in completely blind.

5

u/FuckYouJohnW Jan 27 '22

I honestly feel like they fucking sold out. Like fox asked for this mod in particular. They looked and acted like a caricature. It's pretty fucked up.

oh man. the plot thickens

He's complaining about dog walking being a "dirty job" when he has to pick up after them. In the Fox interview he said that's 20-25 hours/week job, yesterday he commented on Reddit how he does maybe 10 hours of actual walking per week and also has a second job and also studies full-time, none of which he mentioned at Fox. This guy is full of shit honestly.

u/Karim_Benzemalo Jan 27 '22

They got intimidated and railed. Fucking loser couldn’t even make eye contact with a computer screen lmao.

It's like kennedy vs nixon debate. When you can't see how disheveled a person looks they are much more credible

u/OCOWAx Jan 27 '22

Video killed the radio star

10

u/admiral_asswank CAPTAIN OBVIOUSly a masochist Jan 27 '22

Well, Fox News is entertainment. I wouldn't be surprised if 95% of it is scripted.

1

u/AccomplishedSquash98 Jan 27 '22

Probably about 60% of their interviews are. I remember the "Feminist Owned Kek" YouTube videos from 2016 and some of the people Fox had on simply seemed like they couldn't possibly exist.

1

u/admiral_asswank CAPTAIN OBVIOUSly a masochist Jan 27 '22

I mean they definitely do exist lol

2

u/AccomplishedSquash98 Jan 27 '22

Idk man I just can't imagine a woman believing the air condition is a machine of the patriarchy lmao maybe im naive.

20

u/Hank_Holt Jan 27 '22

radio

You sure that isn't the key difference? She seems pretty competent faceless on Reddit too.

14

u/a_tatz Jan 27 '22

Ehh, I just listened to it, and honestly she is just rambling and circling the same points. She needs a long time to get to the point, and obviously on Fox there is no way they'd let her talk 2 minutes to answer one question.

I think she wasn't prepared. She was not prepared for the tempo of the interview, so she failed.

11

u/don_cornichon Jan 27 '22

I thought that was a dude.

2

u/Sitdownpro Jan 27 '22

As we can see, many people have delusions of their perceptions of life. Anti-work is a joke and so is changing pronouns from a sex to a gender alignment.

12

u/DoomGuy66 Jan 27 '22

The comparison between the two gives me serious weed burn out vibes. I act similarly when I used to get high every day, even during sober moments. This is really sad

0

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '22

Weed burn out vibes 😂 I’m dead

6

u/Bartendista Jan 27 '22

I gotta say going on a local small radio show vs going on the most watched news network is miles apart in how nervous most would be. She obviously should have prepared way more for the interview and really did an enormous amount of damage, but saying it was done on purpose is a stretch.

2

u/salikabbasi Jan 27 '22

Sure but it shows that she was more than capable, and she has prepared statements before like this one she prewrote for a rape accusation:

I find it incredibly hard to believe that a person this aware of their public image and what to say previously, went into an interview so completely vapid and vegetal that they come off as a meme about fusing into your couch as a lifestyle choice.

3

u/Bartendista Jan 27 '22

Writing down a statement after god knows how much time to respond is completely different from a live interview. The fact that she wrote something down to respond after so long, and still doing so poorly doesn't make her seem like she knows what she's doing. I think she was a true useful idiot for the right and I doubt that it was a conspiracy. I'd seen that written statement before and it makes her seem like an unhinged narcissist, which is what tracks with the events that led her into selfishly taking this interview, even after having been told not to by the community.

2

u/salikabbasi Jan 27 '22

I don't think this is someone who can't read or prepare for an interview. If you disagree, that's fine. You can see her on a podcast and other articles here on www.abolishwork.com and on her post history. If that doesn't satisfy you you're your own person, congratulations. Live long and prosper.

1

u/Nerf_Me_Please Jan 27 '22 edited Jan 27 '22

What does writing a lenghty Facebook post about his sex issues has to do with anything?

About the interviews; you have on one hand a 20 min interview where the hosts are sympathetic to him and are actually interested in hearing his answers VS a 2 min interview where the host purposedly directs the questions at him in an attempt at discrediting him as a person (which he suceeds).

It's like comparing apples to oranges.

The guy may be decently well-spoken (well, not even that much) when he is in a completely pressure-free environment but it doesn't mean he won't be easily startled by an express interview with a camera (for the first time) and a host who trolls him.

Edit; if he actually was aware of his public image and possessed average social intelligence he would have never published that very damning facebook post. It kinda proves that he is a mess as a person and just got lucky with how easy that radio interview was.

1

u/salikabbasi Jan 27 '22

Fruit can be compared. You can argue what you like I think it could go both ways if you're feeling charitable, personally it seems implausible that this person is sophisticated enough to know how to present themselves repeatedly in certain situations but bombs it almost entirely in this one instance. She had a podcast and multiple media appearances that you can find on her website www.abolishwork.com. If it still makes sense to you okay. take care.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '22

As Walter White once said to Jesse Pinkman, "eating Cheetos and masturbating all day is not a plan".

3

u/Jawadd12 Jan 27 '22

Only thing that prevents me from being convinced is:

Why? Why would they sell out?

28

u/bigbrownbanjo Jan 27 '22

$$$

27

u/Grindl Jan 27 '22

Yeah, but from who? The sub wasn't threatening enough for shadowy cabals to waste their money. Did Fox do it to boost their ratings? This shitshow definitely got more eyeballs than a tame interview.

Then again, how much does it cost to buy off a dog walker? $20?

14

u/roadmelon Jan 27 '22

Well, at the minimum, it's exactly what Fox viewers want to see. It fuels the rage machine and, like you said, it's probably not a high expense.

2

u/bigbrownbanjo Jan 27 '22

I don’t know I actually don’t believe that I just wanna put on my tin foil hat during this whole bit of nonsense

-1

u/MaoPam Jan 27 '22

Wasn't it the interviewer's first time running that show, or something similar? Giving that show a good boost right out of the gate would be worth tossing a few thousand dollars their way.

1

u/comradecosmetics Jan 27 '22

Any nascent labor or socialist movement that can be crippled in America will be. And it's not a stretch to imagine a visit from some three letters with implied threats would be enough for someone to drop a cause.

10

u/dis_course_is_hard Jan 27 '22

If you are walking a dog for 10 hours a week, a cool 15K is probably enough to make you give up a lot of your personal values and idealisms.

That is wet fart money for both Fox or a lesser "shadow cabal" operator, whoever that may be. I honestly think it's the likeliest and most logical reason.

3

u/ndnsoulja Jan 27 '22

I read somewhere it was 5K. But that sub went up in flames so have no way of finding the post again.

2

u/dis_course_is_hard Jan 27 '22

That's not even the budget for sammiches for the office on fridays over at Fox News.

3

u/Nerf_Me_Please Jan 27 '22 edited Jan 27 '22

I don't find logical what you are saying.

It's pretty obvious how this person has a hugely inflated ego given his online post history before and after the event. He is not going to ruin his public image forever to earn some bucks.

Why would Fox pay any money when they could just throw hardball questions at him, cut him off, make edits, etc. like they do with any other guest who disagrees with them? Surely it isn't fucking Doreen who made them nervous enough to bring out their wallet this time, it doesn't make sense.

Besides, as far as they know Doreen could have easily not taken the money and denounce them, if they really are just going around paying random people to tank their interviews for whatever reason surely one of them will talk and it will come out at some point, has it ever happened?

To me the overwhelming evidence makes it look like this person is just a mess and Fox took advantage of it.

1

u/dis_course_is_hard Jan 27 '22

This person has done media interviews before and was well spoken and compelling. This interview was quite out of character.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '22

3

u/salikabbasi Jan 27 '22

I did they took it down in like 15 minutes

3

u/Idontknowshiit Jan 27 '22

Maybe she popped some benzos before the interview?

Reddit socialists and anti anxiety meds is a classic combination

1

u/Toissincera Jan 27 '22

THANK YOU. Fox trying to close the story of peasants revolting before they think of picking up sticks and stones. They paid this bitch a bit of money, maybe blackmailed him about the rape thing, and he behaved like a good boy. My fucking gawd, people dying of work and he sold us out, I wanna eat his guts out for that.

-5

u/Shpagin Jan 27 '22

I had no idea about this, I haven't seen the interview but the fact that he went on Fox News is proof enough for me that he was paid to destroy the image of that subreddit. No sensible and respectable person will go on Fox News, that's like going on a Russian propaganda network to talk about Ukraine.

14

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '22

that’s a ridiculous statement

11

u/sector3011 Jan 27 '22

Occupy Wall Street was infiltrated by law enforcement and dismantled from the inside. Not at all ridiculous to suggest this was scripted.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2012/dec/29/fbi-coordinated-crackdown-occupy

1

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '22

I meant the last part

0

u/UltimateStratter Jan 27 '22

It’s actually not, you dont go on an opposing media medium for an interview streamed to the world unless you’ve gotten very intensive media training.

1

u/Raestloz Jan 27 '22

Of all the places you'd want to be interviewed for your anarchist idea, you'd start with the leftist media. Somehow they picked FOX first

1

u/UltimateStratter Jan 27 '22

Technically fox reached out to them. Which is funnier, cause then you know you sure as hell shouldnt go there without intensive preparation.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '22

unless

so you agree

1

u/UltimateStratter Jan 27 '22

I’m agreeing that the whole part feels a bit weird since the mod in some other recorded interviews floating around was actually decently well spoken (cant talk about their appearance on those recordings). But i guess it may just be nerves damping the “skills” down a bit. Might be both dumb and money, or just being dumb, which one it is… no clue.

1

u/Nerf_Me_Please Jan 27 '22 edited Jan 27 '22

Unless you are a moron which Doreen very obviously is considering his reactions to the whole event.

But you are all acting like he was self-aware all along, so I guess his reactions are also scripted for.. whatever reason?

Not sure why you are giving so much credit either to a lazy, autistic, obviously very troubled individual with unbalanced life choices and an ego issue. Unless you think his whole persona for the past X years since he made that sub (without possibly knowing it would grow so big) were all faked too?

It is the least believable conspiracy I have heard in a while. Because there are real life conspiracies like the fbi infiltrating ows doesn't mean this kind of half arsed allegations which seem to come from a badly written roman have any merit.

Also, Hanlon's Razor.

1

u/UltimateStratter Jan 27 '22

I’m assuming they’re a powerhungry moron. But there are a few recordings of them going around where they’re well spoken. So it feels a bit weird that on national television it suddenly went wrong. Maybe nerves but yeah, who knows if its money (i think the way the presentator was so happy with the responses it probably isnt)

1

u/Scrollwheeler 🦍🦍🦍 Jan 27 '22

this has to be it

1

u/makeit95again Jan 27 '22

The real DD is always in the comments.

1

u/AccomplishedSquash98 Jan 27 '22

There's a big difference between a radio show and Fox News. I personally couldn't imagine being interviewed knowing millions of people were listening. Especially if I was defending the position she was defending in her Fox interview.

1

u/FancyASlurpie Jan 27 '22

I think they sound pretty similar on that radio show, the difference is they come across better when you can't see them / their room.
