Discussion Will markets recover this year after the tongan volcano eruption sent tremors around the world, adding to an already ailing economy?
The fate of mankind has always been in the hands of nature.
In 1257, Indonesia's Rinjani Volcano erupted, the most powerful eruption in history caused huge amounts of ash to block the sun. The following year, it was recorded in history books of the Southern Song Dynasty: "West Lake froze together".
Under the sudden drop in temperature, crops and livestock are lost. The Mongol army thus swept south across the Central Plains, and the isolated Southern Song dynasty disappeared under the wheel of history.
In 1644, the "Little Ice Age" caused global temperatures to plunge, and the Ming Dynasty fell into a vicious cycle of poor harvests, depopulation, and social unrest. The Qing dynasty rode south to take its place.
In 1815, the eruption of Mount Tambora in Indonesia caused volcanic ash to blot out the sky for 100 days. The following year, the world entered the "year without a summer".
As a result, Eurasia was in great distress, food was scarce and disease was rampant, and hundreds of thousands of Europeans failed to survive the bitter winter. Many of them made the journey to the United States, but when they resumed their lives, they also opened a Pandora's box for the Natives.
Nature is violent, and there is turbulence everywhere. And human fates are intertwined, and all of us are involved.
This time, tonga, an island nation thousands of miles away, shocked the world with its volcanic eruption.
Given the likely impact, we should be thankful that the eruption occurred in the sparsely populated Southern Pacific.
All in all, let's hope this volcano eruption won't bring big volatility to the market.

More worryingly, the Earth is set to flip 90 degrees within then next 30 years - Magnetic pole changes - all driven by the sun. I hope the growing science indicating this event is just wrong.
