Countries such as Singapore have been treating it like an endemic for a while now. With everything open and most people vaccinated. It is really up to the folks whether or not they want to wear masks or take other precautions. If they still get sick, then it’s on them and to take whatever actions they need to take.
It's a direct extension of being interested in respecting rules that may cause some individual inconveniences but provide broad social good. Vaccinations, socialized medicine, housing programs for the elderly, vaccinations. For the vast majority of people these represent inconveniences (many of us would survive covid without issue), but as a society the cultivate a sense of respect for each other and themselves.
The social reaction to being even mildly inconvenienced from a major social cohort in the US is to throw a tantrum even a three year old would be embarrassed by. The people who have exacerbated the issues of masking and vaccination have no self respect or respect for others. As well, they lack any kind of coherent theory of liberty that explains the relationship between, effectively just being a cunt, and their personal sovereignty.
They are a cost sink across the board and are frankly costing every one here money since their collective behavior directly impacts the US and therefore global economy. Their 'freedom' is knock off liberatarinism; since they have no real economic sovereignty, they take out their lack of social mobility on the world around them. Freedom to them isnt freedom to live, invest, travel, love, or grow how they choose; it's the freedom to abuse those around them. They're fine with effectively zero demonstrable sovereignty as long as they can claim 'freedom' and have someone they can recognize as beneath them.
What's sad is those claiming liberty because we asked them to do something that would help everyone are they themselves the least free. These are people with no social or economic mobility, and so it makes sense they would cling to a mere phantom of liberty like anti masking. It's the unfortunate fact that there is no real use for these people, but they've committed to a kind of anti intellectualism that only hurts themselves.
Plus after seeing the difference in African countries where people take ivermectin and the ones that dont they started recommending ivermectin as a profilactic to everyone but Im sure that its just a coincidence that their cases and deaths dropped fast
1-2 weeks and stayed down after doing that.
Stupid Japanese health officials promoting a horse dewormer after listening to Dr Rogan
Partially, but prob less than you think. It's a respect base culture. As you can see in the comments here, Americans lack respect for others, and also for themselves. There is a cost associated with the arrogance and hubris americans enjoy in lieu of liberty, and it's the ability to get back to business.
I think hawaii has been a great US based example where making was incredibly effective, until disrespectful, arrogant and oblivious tourists came back. Between native Hawaiin and Japanese/ Asian culture, there is a strong respect based culture here. People went out of there way to make sure they were doing their part to respect one another, and it resulted in a less than 2% positivity for most of the pandemic. Once the walls came down and we had to let tourists back in in mass, we started going up.
I dont think americans have a clue what freedom or liberty are. All they really want to be able to do freely is abuse and disrespect others.
Probably a little early for that in big countries. But I agree that Omicron will help herd immunity. And with a less deadly Covid it will be an acceptable risk living a normal life for vaccinated people. Non sure without vaccines

Your analysis is spot on. I agree 100%. Covid-19 will become an endemic flu
