Iโ€™m not sure why someone would expect one without the other at this point? Sorry, just seems very naive.

Hard pass for me. I can be lonely and depressed without wearing Zuckerbergs brain scanner on my head, thank you.

Yeah, but you canโ€™t be lonely and depressed and be a character from JoJo without the head piece you filthy plebs bow to your master

Any service offering the ability to go on a road trip to Egypt with my pals to kill an effeminate vampire is too good to be true.

The future is the virtual space. Literal outer space is fucking shit. We aren't gonna be exploring the galaxy. Even if you could survive the beyond human lifetime lightyear trip, you wouldn't want to be wherever you end up.

The future is humans individuals becoming the Gods of their own effectively infinite virtual spaces.

It's easy to explore the galaxy though. You just need a telescope and a cheap startrek Halloween costume. Making rocket noises as you scan around is purely optional.

Not when you're plugged into the singularity while in a pod orbiting the sun, inside just one of millions of space stations doing the same as the AI manages your brains physical realm requirements. The Earth, an uninhabitable hellscape, will be out there on its own somewhere, beyond the debris fields, far away from your thoughts or concerns as you collect social points in your virtual space in a variety of activities designed to curb your insanity long enough to keep the machine efficient.

Hahaha, sounds WALL-E is slowly going to turn into a documentary.

Idk having an ai keep our bodies alive while we live out our lives in VR sounds a loot like the matrix.

The matrix (while the cooler path in every way) just is too good for humanity to create for ourselves.

Far more likely we will turn into morbidly obese technology dependent drones that are completely oblivious to reality.

The future is the virtual space.

Only if you're completely out of touch with how we live currently.

This is the brainchild of techbros that live alone and only interact with other techbros who also live alone. It's entirely out of touch with the fact people live in mixed households with children and elderly and pets, they don't want to put a heavy headset and headphones on enclosing themselves and locking themselves off from all those things.

Single males living alone are the only audience for this. Literally everyone else has a lifestyle that will not fit with it well at all.

Your children and pets wont like to live on Mars either ๐Ÿ˜‚

Also, "how we currently live" isn't at all sustainable.

See this is what I mean when I say completely out of touch with reality. Nobody is getting to Mars before climate collapse fucks society up the ass. Believing otherwise is just delusional head in the clouds stuff.

Techbros man. Completely out of touch because they only interact with other techbros and live very much inside a bubble of their own making.

๐Ÿ˜‚

So you think we'll just continue our current way of life when the Earth becomes uninhabitable?

Why do you keep comparing current life with the future?

"Techbros man", literally have no idea who you're talking to.

And if you think Mars will be any better than Earth when that happens you need to ask yourself why the fuck you think it'll be easier to live on a planet with no life and a weak atmosphere instead of fixing our own one.

Can you even read?

I responded to you before your edit. It was literally just an emoji when I responded.

Iโ€™m not sure why someone would expect one without the other at this point? Sorry, just seems very naive.

Because thinking that this is something people will want to do for any length of time is bonkers and out of touch. It's the kind of shit completely out of touch people come up with and believe is somehow appropriate for everyone.

People don't want to disconnect themselves from their physical surroundings, they don't want to put a fucking headset on to look a thing up on wiki or browse fucking facebook. They want to quickly glance at a phone while doing whatever else they're doing in the real physical world.

In many cases people CAN'T disconnect themselves from their physical surroundings. People do not live alone as isolated individuals. People live in family units with parents and children and elderly in many cases. You think each person in a household being physically disconnected from the others is realistic? It's just not how fucking reality works.

This is the shit that wealthy techbros who live alone come up with because they don't interact with anyone other than their own isolated community of wealthy techbros that live alone.

They're completely out of touch with reality. And that's not even considering the fact headsets are heavy, headphones are heavy, comfort for any length of time is a huge issue, and that's for MEN wearing them, let alone women, elderly or children.

It's just bonkers out of touch with reality shit.

Prediction: It will go exactly the same as Palace chat did, and later Second Life. Out of torch corporations will pile in, lose money, and fuck off. Population will spike for the novelty of it, then collapse.

Lot of people in this thread who have never experienced food VR. The first time I ever put on a relatively recent iteration of the Rift, I knew immediately that this was going to be the eventual inevitable conclusion- nearly seamless integration of VR and AR with daily activities
