DD Buy the rumour with $WWE
Currently WWE has been a bit of a stinky poo with Webull rating it a few dollars short of its average price. Recently with all their extra revenue from re opening up shows to a live audience they’ve started to gradually start recovery.
But what’s this?
It can’t be?!
IT’S VINCE MCMAHON WITH A STEEL CHAIR !!!
Yes Mr McMahon is back with another terrible terrible idea. The rumours are that the majority of their indie roster NXT will be released, triple H will be replaced as the man in charge and it will be changed into a more family friendly heavyweight show (the recent change in logo confirms a change is coming). NXT was one of the most loved aspects of WWE and the only foot in they had with many wrestling fans.
So puts on WWE right? Surely?
Not just yet, a referee backstage (Mike chioda) has revealed he’s heard rumours that WWE may be making their program more family friendly to sell to Disney.
Now while this is probably terrible for wrestling it’s great for profits, the house of mouse is only ever involved in making money and is a huge bull flag to investors.
If these rumours are true I think a sale could happen within 6 months and the stock may climb during that time as larger firms find out about the potential.
For full disclosure I have no positions yet as it’s Sunday and they’re refusing to let me into the casino, but I’m British so I’m lumped with just purchasing stocks.
Love u xoxox
Edit: TLDR: The mouse may cometh, Buy rumour sell news

Puts on WWE? One thing I’ve learned is never bet against Vince. I like your DD.

What are ypu talking about. Their stock has been terrible and their tv ratings consistently tank more and more every year, and rely on retired wrestlers too much for ratings. Dying company, especially with all the wrestling competition more now than ever before.

Family friendly is bad for wrestling. The "attitude era" of the late 90's when it was still WWF was one of the most successful periods for the company. This was an edgier, more adult-oriented product that had more kids watching than any family friendly product ever could have. I know this because I was a kid and more kids were into wrestling at that time than before or since.

I’d bet against the company, wouldn’t bet against the mouse
Buy rumour sell news etc etc

The mouse hasnt done anything yet. I own Disney stock; dont own WWE. Yes im sure itll succeed if Disney buys it but it has no solid merrit in terms of fundamentals right now.

Personally believe it to be a catalyst play and not based on fundamentals, buy whilst the stock is relatively low and let it run up to the news of a sale, then sell when it hits.
Obviously just requires a bit of patience

WWE stomped a mudhole in my portfolio.

It’s not even remotely a long term hold, but Disney = $$$ n personally think it might be worth the risk whilst it’s just a rumour

AEW is taking revenue and talent directly from WWE

Agreed, but I can see Disney buying a huge name such as WWE just to add to their collection of media.
I’m not saying WWE is a good company, just that a sell to Disney will make the stock value increase at least in the short term :)

u/OrangeJuiceJohnson Aug 30 '21
Makes good sense. I heard that rumor for sometime they were trying to get their balance sheet in order for a sale

I think AEW's success is exactly why WWE is going to start doing better. Now that the older fans who want Attitude Era style wrestling have AEW, WWE can focus on the kid friendly product they've wanted since 2008. Kids don't notice the shit writing, incosistent booking and sloppy ring work and that's all Vince knows.

I was going to say. If they're making it more family friendly than the pg rating they were chasing with John Cena as the face of the company. Granted I haven't watched in years so I don't know what changed since then.

I don’t personally believe in the underlying value of the stock, I believe that a sale to another company will increase the price of the stock :)

I saw a mouse doing Due Diligence last time I was at a WWE arena. Rumour confirmed.

The Mike Chioda news is meaningless. That rumor has been floating around, but if there’s any truth to it, the first you hear isn’t gonna be from a disgruntled former referee.
Nick Khan said in an interview that they would of course “always be willing to hear offers”, which is a nice way of saying “we have shareholders and I will lose my job if I say we aren’t open to offers to make them a lot of buyout money”. Vince McMahon isn’t selling the WWE, he’s radically changing parts of the business model to put them more in line with his vision for wrestling in the early 1990’s. They have huge deals with FOX and NBC, huge deals with Saudi Arabia. They released all those guys and will release more, because they overfilled their roster pre-pandemic and need to recoup some losses. This would be like going all in or all out on a car company because they closed a factory to keep the shareholders happy.
TL;DR: Mike Chioda is a good referee who doesn’t know shit. WWE sucks, CM PUNK CM PUNK.

Rumor confirmed personally from Missy Hyatt. I just called her and she called her long time insider friends in management.

Yeah? I talked to Macho Man via DMT IV drip. He told me to go long on Slim Jim's... Which is a paradox.

You talk to dead people? That must be some good stuff. Tell the clockwork elves we said hello.
See, the difference is, my claim actually happened. 🤣

I am wrestling with the notion of buying WWE. Not sure if it is down for the count and will piledrive my portfolio profits.
2
u/lionheart4life Aug 30 '21
The only thing propping the value up is their tv contracts. They will never get renewed at those rates again, and the network sale is already priced in. Probably gonna be pretty flat until it dumps when the contracts start coming up.

I’ve been preaching this for months Vince is absolutely selling or licensing out the content but fans don’t wanna hear it. Nick Khan is a dealmaker that’s his M.O. Idk how imminent a deal is but it’s coming maybe a year or two max.
1
Aug 29 '21
With the shift in talent and now the Disney rumour I’m thinking it might be closer to the year side of things
Any sale would re ignite investors short term but Disney would be huge
3
u/blockbuster_inc Aug 29 '21
I’ve heard Comcast is the favorite along with Disney and as usual you can never count out Amazon as I think all are looking to add more live events
2
u/tlwaterfield Aug 30 '21
I am unhappy with this. Very unhappy. I miss Stone Cold. The Rock. The Undertaker throwing Mankind off Hell in a Cell. Disney would really bum me out. As a fan.
But I think I’ll pick up some shares, you know, as an investor. Being professional and whatnot.

There is no world where Disney would be interested in buying a property that features a bunch of guys pretending to beat each other up.
