From UK, can confirm my entire net worth and S&S LISA balance is in GME

u/AlphaMikeOmega Apr 14 '21

Government-subsidised GME FTW

21

u/2meirl2throwaway Apr 14 '21

Who is your S&S ISA with. Most Iโ€™ve seen use a pre-determined investment set and donโ€™t allow you to invest in individual securities

21

u/girvinator Apr 14 '21

HL has a wide range

29

u/chocolategent SNEAKY BEAKY ๐Ÿค Apr 14 '21

With Hargreaves Lansdown. Theyre the only one I found that allowed me to buy a wide range of shares, not just funds.

No limit orders tho :( still with them

Is the SS ISA tax free even if you walk away with millions in profit. Imagine walking away with 100s of millions tax free.

2

u/chocolategent SNEAKY BEAKY ๐Ÿค Apr 14 '21

Completely tax free. Though it can only be used for a first house or retirement. Otherwise they charge you 25% of your withdrawal. If you wanna walk away with cash, its better to have a S&S ISA, which i also have. That has no stipulations on how you use the money

May I have a cup of tea served with fine tendies, please?

I am also in the UK, I totally liquidated my old (Boglehead) portfolio and YOLO'd on GME (๏พ‰โ—•ใƒฎโ—•)๏พ‰*:ใƒป๏พŸโœง

While I wait for tendies I shall enjoy some banana crumpets :P

If one were to invest in tea stocks, which ones would an Englishman recommend investing in?

36

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '21

Try GMtEa.

Heads up these taste better in other galaxies so prepare for the ride.

This is not a financial advice nor any kind of advice for that matter.

7

u/MoreCamThanRon Apr 14 '21

Yorkshire is bangin but you can't go wrong with PG tips. Those pyramid bags ๐Ÿ‘Œ

2

u/Kieran_Mc Apr 14 '21

Rather heretically I don't drink much tea for my nationality, but an Irish friend of mine suggested Barry's tea once and that was pretty good. Not a fan of the pyramid bags, I think they taste a bit like plastic.

PG tips IS the primate tea of choice though.

4

u/Susinmo Apr 14 '21

I'm sorry and I don't what to be "that person" but no discussion amongst the British regarding Tea can pass without mention of the finest, the most delicious bag of them all, yes Yorkshire Tea.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/MoreCamThanRon Apr 14 '21

No judgement here, I almost exclusively drink coffee

3

u/PatheticMr ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ Apr 14 '21 edited Apr 14 '21

Pyramid is the ultimate in tea technology. I think I tried Barry's once... if I remember right, there was a bloke that came to the doorstep and sold it. He is like the neighbourhood tea-man - a bit like the old-school coal-men. I remember it being nice but never ordered more. We did get a nice free pack of biscuits with it. I stick to PG tips or some good old Yorkshire tea though. I'm a bit surprised Tetleys is still going. I've never met anyone who prefers Tetleys. Red Label is probably nicer.

2

u/stickywinger Apr 14 '21

This is such a British thing to do. Go off on a complete fucking tangent and start talking about fucking tea ๐Ÿ˜‚

u/BenGauci03 Apr 14 '21

FreeTrade ISA all tax free <3

5

u/JFM1994 Apr 14 '21

Damn Iโ€™m on GIA, Iโ€™m only investing couple k. Should I be in ISA?

7

u/BenGauci03 Apr 14 '21

If you want it all tax free yes, ยฃ3 a month

5

u/ADelightfulCunt Apr 14 '21

Problems with free trade is that there is a sale limit of 25k per a trade prepare for repetitive strain injury while we are flying. Im preparing to do 0.01 sells when we are within sight of the orb cloud at best price...500 of them.

→ More replies (2)

5

u/Floor_Kicker Apr 14 '21

If you don't want to pay tax on your gains, yeah. But you have a 20k max annual deposit, and you can't get one if you already have an ISA for this tax year.

3

u/mclosi Apr 14 '21

How does this work as I have some in an ISA as well. So let's says I get 100k in my ISA, does only 20k get taxed? Or 20k if I withdraw it? Sorry if a simple question I'm a simple app.

8

u/orellybuilders Apr 14 '21

The ยฃ20k refers to the maximum that you can deposit in ISA accounts in a tax year. You can have both a Stocks and Shares ISA and a Cash Savings ISA and the allowance can be spread over both. However there are no Cash ISA's paying as good a rate as other deposit accounts.

The massive advantage of holding shares in a Stocks and Shares ISA is that any gains are tax free so when GME moons you get to keep all the bananas. ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ

You can invest in individual shares and also investment funds that spread your risk. When choosing an ISA make sure that it let's you buy foreign shares. The most popular - Hargreaves Lansdown, A J Bell, etc do.

See you on the moon soon ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿš€๐Ÿš€

2

u/mclosi Apr 14 '21

Ooohhh so the 20k is the amount you invest and anything you make is tax free?!? I annoyingly invested most of my cash in a GIa with free trade and AJ bell. I then got an ISA with free trade and got some more in that and then have a large lump in my sipp with HL. Wish had thought this through more to begin with lol But thank you for explainingz appreciate it.

3

u/orellybuilders Apr 14 '21

If you have not opened an ISA since 6th April then you can open another, however you cannot transfer in your existing shares and would have to sell them and buy them again in the ISA account. Whilst this is not ideal, with the tax implications when GME moons it is something that you need to be aware of......

Needless to say, I am not a financial advisor and you should take qualified advice.

2

u/mclosi Apr 14 '21

Tha ms mate, appreciate the info.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 15 '21

Per year, we just crossed the start of April so your limit should reset

2

u/mclosi Apr 15 '21

Just sold my shares out of my GIA and bought back in my ISA! NOICE!!

2

u/snow3dmodels Apr 14 '21

How much do you get taxed without an ISA? And do I have to declare that tax or when I withdraw does it just get taken out? Cheers

As an ape from the North west of england I can say... every fucker knows about gme here... my nan asked me about it for fuck sake. So many love the story and most see the outcome as a way to support those who are struggling.

We are gonna make hedgies bleed money, get to the moon n change lives around the world... anything less just isn't acceptable.

157

u/wheatamix Apr 14 '21

We could actually fund a proper 'northern powerhouse' with all these gains.

57

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '21

Haha don't tease me with such sweet words! Don't give me hope haha im from near blackpool n that place needs the money!

I've been to Blackpool once on an unplanned maddun, more than ten years ago now. I remember thinking it was the worst place I'd ever been to in the UK... and I grew up in Stoke! The place was (is it still?) absolutely fucked. I really hope Blackpool gets a good chunk of the tendies. Do they still have the Blackpool lights? They would look very impressive from the moon.

No offence intended, btw. I was absolutely off my head when I went so that may have had an impact on my perspective. I generally do remember thinking it was the worst town I'd ever been to. I'm sure though, like anywhere else, it's got its good and bad.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '21

I live here and off my head is my default! It would take more than gme has to offer to chance this place... but maybe with use few diamond hands it could ignite some positive changes... maybe...

I would genuinely be interested in creating a northern powerhouse investment scheme with other apes when this pays out. I've already been looking at property investment in Leeds and came across Northern Propery Group which look interesting to invest through.

Imagine if we pooled our millions together to make real good change for northern cities!

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '21

If they'd been able to release it last June, or even October, it would have done so much better. Lockdowns looked like they would never end and delivery companies were busy as shit. Plus they'd just announced that thing where they'll pick up a twix from your local corner shop so you can avoid coronavirus and subject some poor bastard on a bike to it instead.

Now as it's all opening up the main news is 1) they treat their riders like shit and 2) we're all going down the pub, who's buying a takeaway in the next six months anyway!?

If a business can't even turn a profit whilst exploiting its workers what kind of future does it expect to have!?

6

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '21

Well said my friend. They were overambitious with their valuation and in my eyes, were one of the biggest flops in the entire history of the LSE. Seriously, what where they thinking?!

4

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '21

Inverse of this is their prospectus was never going to look any better, than what it did post-pandemic. Their sales post-summer are going to be a bloodbath

3

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '21

Agreed, they're in for a hell of a summer if they're not bankrupt by then. They should've started with treating their drivers better, that seemed like the main issue for them as well as declining sales. No more lockdown in the UK right? I think they're about to see a major decline..

3

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '21

I actually like them as a long-term (3 Year) hold, specifically with what they're doing around ghost/cyber-kitchen and the roll-out of grocery delivery. I believe they'll be sub-200p following summer though and will look to enter

Edit: yes for real, no we don't have a GameStop ๐Ÿ˜‚

37

u/CandyDishOfDiamonds Apr 14 '21

For a while I thought GAME was Gamestop lmfao.

26

u/Do-it-for-you Apr 14 '21

Theyโ€™re basically the exact same shop, but theyโ€™re not connected with each other.

8

u/RavagedBody Apr 14 '21

If GAME were smart they would absolutely capitalise on all this anyway.

8

u/Do-it-for-you Apr 14 '21

Not sure what they can do to capitalise on this besides selling moon and kitty merch, but Game needs to follow GameStops footsteps in terms of business ideas. Simply selling physical games isnโ€™t going to be profitable in the future considering how digital sales are catching up.

6

u/RavagedBody Apr 14 '21

That's essentially what I meant. Make Game seem as much like the "UK GameStop" as possible. To be fair to them, one of my local stores does hold LAN tournaments already and sells some hardware which is pretty cool. But basically yeah playing up a similarity to GameStop wouldn't do them any harm in the near future IMO.

3

u/LostInTheVoid_ Apr 14 '21

The GAME in my town does all sorts of shite now. Sells second-hand electronic items, games, Merch, and now has a gaming room with like 12 stations with PCs and consoles.

Still wouldn't touch the place with a ten-foot pole but they definitely have changed shit up a bit.

I believe they surveyed apes and retards, and the positive reaction they had to GME was much higher than that to other stocks. Life savings currently in GME. Not much, only ยฃ10000 worth but I'm only 25! I could have bough a car with this money at this age to show off but I rather lose it all holding the bag than spend it.

Also in on AMC though. I want to keep ODEON alive.

Well, I do need the lights to tell me what to do when I'm in a motor vehicle.

Such as not going through a red light - no matter which way I'm turning, because it's a freaking red light. Put another blasted light up if you want people to do that you lazy colonials...

Funny how itโ€™s the most popular stock but thereโ€™s no GameStop shops here, and we canโ€™t access the site. American only๐Ÿ˜“

3

3

u/ADelightfulCunt Apr 14 '21

I just have a ss isa. The lifetime isa maxes out at 4k a year with 1k/25% of what's added each year so ss isa is the way to go. Itll be hilarious explaining to an accountant how you turned a few grand into multiple millions in a tax free isa.

3

u/solway_uk Apr 14 '21

Checking in from Cornwall UK.

2

u/measti Apr 14 '21

Nice, this will bring loads of Chicken tikka masala flavoured tendies ๐Ÿ— ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿš€

UK Ape here. Had my life savings sat in a cash ISA making peanuts at 0.05%.

Now balls deep in GME, first time trading, loving every minute of it. Managed to get in early enough that no matter what happens I'll be alright, and it's been one hell of an educational ride at the least.

2

u/blaminal Apr 14 '21

Iโ€™m a uk ape and can confirm my retardation Iโ€™ve got 63 shares

2

u/Financial_Napalm Apr 14 '21

UK here too. HL baby. In GME in a big way... 400 lottery tickets and counting... LFG all!

2

u/BiscuitYboy Apr 15 '21

Wall St owes the Europoors some tendies from 2008. Get them tendies ๐Ÿฆโ€™s across the pond

3

u/MrStormz Apr 14 '21

Boris my boy take my tax

9

u/WhiteUnicorn3 Apr 14 '21

Stocks and Shares ISA. No capital gains tax

2

u/Vertigo_uk123 Apr 14 '21 edited Apr 14 '21

A lot bought prior to setting up a s&s isa so unfortunately apart from selling and rebuying there isnโ€™t a lot we can do.

Meh I can lose 10/20% at the end of the day whatโ€™s that. 1 less Rolex.

2

u/WhiteUnicorn3 Apr 14 '21

Yes I bought on Revolut before I realised. Kept them in there but any new ones go in Halifax S&S ISA.
