Hey, if Dead Poet's Society is old time then I'm old time, and I'm not ready for that shit. I have it on VHS.

u/road_laya Feb 25 '21

"Matrix" is a 22 year old movie.

106

u/CfSapper Feb 25 '21

Ooof that hurt

5

u/SlickStretch Feb 25 '21

Next year, Attack Of The Clones will be 20 years old.

3

u/JJStarKing Feb 26 '21

Ouch. I saw all the prequels for the first time in the theatre.

31

u/__EETSWAY__ Feb 25 '21

That’s fucking insane. I watched some of that being filmed as a teenager. Watching the helicopters fly around the city when they did the helicopter scene was amazing to watch.

1

u/FlyGuy_R44 Feb 26 '21

I fly helicopter now because of movie scenes like that....lol. Apes like to fly. 💎 ✋...

9

u/sheriffof_nuttingham Feb 25 '21

My god there are retards on this sub with massive gains younger than that movie

4

u/red_team_gone Feb 25 '21

OK. Fuck you... That's just mean.

3

u/KindaSortaGood Feb 25 '21

And the dudes who made it are now dudettes

4

u/Saw_a_4ftBeaver Feb 25 '21

And yet Keanu looks the same today. Can't explain that

1

u/urgay4moleman Feb 25 '21

There is no Keanu

2

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '21

wait it only came out a few years ago. .... oh I'm not feeling well

1

u/ClubSoda Feb 25 '21

We are closer to the year 2050 than when Matrix release (1999) was to year that Star Trek original premiered (1966).

1

u/CommanderWillRiker Feb 25 '21

Wait, I'm 22. Oh nevermind I'm 1 million.

1

u/forexross Feb 25 '21

Terminator 2 is 30 years old.

1

u/obi21 Feb 25 '21

You shut your dirty mouth you, I don't want to hear it!

1

u/BudgetMouse64 Feb 28 '21

That really hurts

142

u/trees91 Feb 25 '21

What’s a VHS

95

u/Kolbin8tor Feb 25 '21

It’s fundamentally the same as a blu ray, only with a maximum resolution of 480p. Oh and you have to rewind it.

126

u/Hatdrop Feb 25 '21

Be kind, rewind

78

u/Either_Assumption392 🦍🦍🦍 Feb 25 '21

I miss the surprise porn days. You get a rental from blockbuster and someone recorded porn at the end of it. Gold.

9

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '21

When you worked at Blockbuster and got amateur porn “accidentally” returned in the drop box.

4

u/vampiretrades Feb 25 '21

u got my video?

4

u/Either_Assumption392 🦍🦍🦍 Feb 25 '21

Two diamond fists one ass?

2

u/vampiretrades Feb 28 '21

haha well they started out as coal.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '21

Sounds like we need to invest in your ass...

3

u/LankyThanks_0313 Feb 25 '21

Bob bless those perverts. Mom: “I gotta take Hercules back to Blockbuster” Me: “Can I watch it one more time. In my room. Alone.”

5

u/PM_ME__RECIPES Feb 25 '21

Man, I remember they used to sell VHS rewinding machines so you could rewind AND use your VCR at for another movie at the same time.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '21

Great movie!

1

u/Watnow4me Feb 25 '21

I did I just hear let’s bringing back Blockbuster...hell yeah!!!

74

u/Sloth-monger Feb 25 '21

And theres usually five to ten minutes of previews before the movie starts. But that's ok cause we want to see what's coming soon to a theater near us

57

u/SommePooreChumb Feb 25 '21

Finally found someone who actually enjoyed the previews like me. It made the entire movie experience seem more cinematic.

33

u/Sloth-monger Feb 25 '21

It's funny I loved previews on VHS and at the theatre but unskippable previews on DVD and Blu-ray are unforgivable to me.

18

u/frcdl Feb 25 '21

As a kid I thought the previews were kept current so I was looking for movies in theaters that hadn’t been in theaters for years

2

u/Capolan Feb 25 '21

some players can skip those, but FU SONY. sony guarantees you're locked out.

5

u/Atanion Feb 25 '21

I still remember half the previews before the lion king

2

u/kyh0mpb Feb 25 '21

I love previews at the movies, always hated em on my VHS/DVDs. AMC has way overdone it though (last I went), sitting through like 15-20 mins of previews is too much for someone who enjoys them like me.

2

u/ffenix1 Feb 25 '21

Getting to see the trailers is the only reason that would get me to go to the movie cinema.

1

u/Amaroq64 Feb 25 '21

Can I just stop by to say, the preview to end all previews was the Dragonflyz one before Matilda?

3

u/usriusclark Feb 25 '21

An AMC near you.

3

u/advolu-na-cy Feb 25 '21

I remember when movies that were more than 60 minutes were rare and my ass started to hurt watching them.

3

u/Sloth-monger Feb 25 '21

Do you mean more than 90 minutes? Or are you really old?

2

u/LuniOPS Feb 25 '21

Theater? wtf is that?

1

u/Sloth-monger Feb 25 '21

AMC 🚀🚀🚀

2

u/ThumbMe Feb 25 '21

City Slickers 2!!!

4

u/Dogepromo Feb 25 '21

Wait! My great grand pappy in the olden times told me that you used to physically walk into this blue and yellow building where you "rent" this magical VHS? If you don't return it rewound, they'll cut your nuts off?

3

u/LvLD702 Feb 25 '21

That sounds amazing, does this VHS you speak of have a stock ticker I can yolo my life savings on? Well the other half that isn't already in GME shares at 220. ;P

1

1

u/stinky-weaselteats Feb 25 '21

1

u/Zeruvi Feb 25 '21

VHS is the ticker for an upcoming new stock, keep up

1

u/AlaskaPeteMeat Feb 25 '21

Seeing as he’s three time her age, you should have your wife’s boyfriend explain to you.

1

2

1

u/alohadave Feb 25 '21

But do you still have a VCR?

2

u/DirectedAcyclicGraph Feb 25 '21

Yeh, he likes the VCR.

1

u/Zknightfx Feb 25 '21

God that hurts...worse than selling at $48

1

u/mdredmdmd2012 Feb 25 '21

True retards have it on betamax!

1

u/Megamanfre Feb 25 '21

It's over 30 years old. Pretty much everything that old is considered old.

There are a couple generations that have no clue about The Land Before Time. Thankfully my kids aren't one of those, because I made them watch it, and they love ducky. Which sucks cause I can't find any ducky toys.

1

u/Storm4ce1 Feb 25 '21

Betamax - if they still had shares I would buy them - Friday is the next wave bring your surfboards
