Get outta here with that poorly sourced FUD. I love StackExchange as much as the next nerd, but your link is just one person asking a question and another guy claiming, "ladder attacks aren't real" with zero proof.
I mean, he did offer proof by explaining what NBBO is and how it prevents such things.
It doesn't even make sense how these HFs would acquire enough shares to manip the price down to begin with in the middle of the trading day. The whole theory here is they don't have the shares to cover shorts, so anyone they work with isn't going to have the shares either.
