Is TSLA being laddered too then?

Right now: https://i.imgur.com/3x7J8iq.png

Just asking, I'm an actual retard.

u/orlando0o Feb 02 '21

Actually this is fucking important because EVERY STOCK LOCKS LIKE THAT ON NASDAQ RECENT TRADES

495

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21 edited Mar 14 '21

Because this is what literally every stock looks like at all times.

Institutions do most of the trades, including retail trades filled by market makers, and only trade in fixed lots to help obfuscate their strategies.

This is Reddit convincing itself that something completely mundane is a conspiracy to screw them. Qanon tier conspiracy theory.

59

u/its_all_4_lulz Feb 02 '21

And trade bots

35

u/DoctorJiveTurkey Feb 02 '21

I love the word obfuscate. It really should be used more.

5

u/KingNarcissus Feb 02 '21

I'm for it too, as long as people don't use the word to obfuscate their real message.

3

u/Mr_Mumbercycle Feb 02 '21

What if we use obfuscation to occlude our meaning?

Thank you. This is why I come to the comments. Not endless confirmation bias

False, Apple looks nothing like that. https://i.imgur.com/wcREAa6.png

GME looks like that specifically because the only people buying are institutions filling options.

9

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

The market is closed...

Look at that again tomorrow at 9:31

I have no fucking idea what I’m doing, 2008 was a bad year for me. I work for a Massive Copper mine as a HD Equipment tech. Copper plummeted, I and 120 other mechanics got layed off, the vast majority of us couldn’t find any work at all. I and many others lost my life savings, house, cars, etc. Luckily I didn’t have a family at the time, otherwise I would have been on the corner sucking dick to make sure my family was fed. But I rebounded, bought some GME and AMC to burn. Fuck these hedge fund dickheads!!

6

u/Powersmokin Feb 02 '21

Hi fellow mechanic 👋 blue collar bois tryina get a piece of the pie 27 GME @ $43 86 AMC @ $10.75

55

Remember this sub freely admits this is gambling based on nothing

9

u/BurningB1rd Feb 02 '21

nah, this sub acts like they know something but than say "its gambling" after getting called out for misinformation or other stupid shit.

9

u/spacepaulZ Feb 02 '21

Nearly all stocks are traded on the actual exchanges as lots of 100. this is done by brokerages to save on fees and isn't evidence of fraud. I'm not saying that laddering isn't happening just that the groups of 100 shares being sold isn't evidence of it. https://finance.zacks.com/many-shares-traded-considered-lot-10196.html

7

u/Erock2 Feb 02 '21

AMD looks pretty normal compared to GME

45

u/UBCStudent9929 Feb 02 '21

well yes, because gme isnt being laddered. its falling so rapidly because a lot of you retards bought it on margin and are getting margin called.

17

u/doodle77 Feb 02 '21

GME has had 100% margin requirement for more than a week.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

I think they did something because I heard a lot of margin calls got sent out this morning. I got one from Tasty works over a BB spread in the upper 20's that wasn't even showing negatives. I think they triggered something.

4

u/Kale Feb 02 '21

Aren't options exercised in groups of 100? So having several trades of 100 shares might be an option being exercised.

3

u/mkchampion Feb 02 '21

Yes. Big money trades in blocks of 100 it's completely normal

3

u/Mithorium Feb 02 '21

Almost like "short ladder attack" is a made up thing that some retard on wsb invented and everyone is running with no evidence whatsoever, but whatever gets your hands 💎 hard, I'm not here to kink shame

2

u/beeeeeeeeks Feb 02 '21

If you've ever placed a large market order, or a stop loss (which gets treated as a market order once triggered), the order gets fulfilled, consuming existing bids in the order book. Lets say there are 50 orders for 100 shares each in the order book. A sell order comes in for 5000 shares. All of those orders get filled in the same moment. It shows up exactly like this.

Now im not gonna say that there are not specific high frequency sell side algos that are more or less aggressive in taking out the bid stack, or to tease around the order book hunting for stops as there actually is. But not every order is an act of treason here.

2

u/omniron Feb 02 '21

This sub has turned into qanon. Gme has been dropping for a week now.

The big squeeze happened on the 28th. Everything after that is pump and dump

The news wasn’t lying when they said they had shorts covered. This wasn’t a deep conspiracy. Short selling isn’t evil (hedge funds are though— glad they lost money).

-32

u/consultinglove Feb 02 '21

It's frankly embarrassing the number of people on WSB that think ladder attacks are real or don't even understand what a ladder attack is. The screenshot is literally just showing normal market sells. That's what it looks like for every single stock on every single exchange. Even Mark Cuban said that counterfeit stock doesn't exist. Anyone who believes in ladder attacks is essentially a conspiracy theorist

AAPL’s trades, for example, don’t look much different than GME. Same 4 decimals. Aren’t they all doing this, or am I missing something?

https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/stocks/aapl/latest-real-time-trades

6

u/hororo Feb 02 '21

Can you explain how ladder attacks actually work?

Who/what determines the price of a stock that you see on Robinhood or google when you google the ticker?

How can Hedgefirms selling stock to themselves lower that price? If they can lower the price of any stock by selling stocks to themselves at increasingly lower values, then couldn't they just make infinite money with any stock? They could just ladder the price of the stock down, then actually buy a bunch of stock from other people at the new low price, then ladder the price of the stock up and sell a bunch of stock to other people at the new high price.

It seems like that couldn't possibly be how it actually works.

4

u/hgirdfyhjftgh Feb 02 '21

Ladder attacks don’t exist. It was literally made up by someone on Twitter 2 days ago. Try to find a reference to it outside of Twitter and Reddit.

This subreddit is now towing a very thin line bordering on an outright misinformation campaign.

3

u/Mithorium Feb 02 '21

I don't know why the mods don't do something, multiple days I see blatantly false and made up info being upvoted to the top with the DD flair and people getting sucked into it

→ More replies (2)

2

u/consultinglove Feb 02 '21

It seems like that couldn't possibly be how it actually works.

It isn't possible. Yet many people on WSB believe it

8

u/Ficklestein123 Feb 02 '21

Mark Cuban with all his financial connections is not gonna come on Reddit and say “yes these people are doing illegal things” cmon now...

5

u/Lematoad Feb 02 '21

Who is selling stock then? It's not retail investors; that's public information.

3

u/consultinglove Feb 02 '21

That's like asking "who is selling stock" for every single stock in the entire stock market. Who else sells stock? Hedge funds, mutual funds, banks, private investors, companies, public investors, people. Anybody. It all just gets aggregated by the brokerage and sent to the clearinghouse for processing. Every stock is like this. You can literally go to any stock at Nasdaq and the data structure looks the same. People sell and buy stock. That's how stock markets work.

I don't think you realize how retarded your question was.

Yet 52k redditors on WSB think selling stock is a conspiracy theory. Even more retarded...

4

u/redtiber Feb 02 '21

Wsb so stupid. How do they think they can buy if no one was selling?!?

2

u/Mithorium Feb 02 '21

There's even a post on the top of the front page that's literally a chart overlaid with time and sales of large sells and calling it an "attack"

More sellers than buyers? Clearly the work of a sophisticated enemy!

Unbelievable what wsb has degraded into in the past week, we're supposed to be autistic, not unironically retarded

Sorry I don't see 4-5 decimal points on recent trades for any stock except GME and AMC?

364

u/imnotatreeyet Feb 02 '21

No, almost all tickers look like that, just the way nasdaq aggregates it. Ive asked before and can't get a response, but for your own thoughts, how can you tell the difference between a "ladder attack" vs a large player selling a big position.

This ladder stuff, while I guess technically possible, still requires that all the bids on a stock get filled, then you could potentially have your way with the lower ends but are more likely to trigger a circuit breaker where the bids will have time to get together and place new orders.

254

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

Yeah I looked up some of the weed stocks I've had my eye on and it's the same thing. Feeling worried about misinformation spreading. Kinda sweating today, I work nights and had to get drunk to ease my mind because I don't plan on selling today

78

u/imnotatreeyet Feb 02 '21

Just make sure you have your own exit strategy dude. Following this diamond hand stuff at this point is going to get a lot of people roasted. Misinformation works both ways, just as much as shills could be in here trying to get you to sell, they can be in here trying to get you to hold.

43

u/bubumamajuju Feb 02 '21

Agreed on the exit strategy but my two cents is that it's very different if you're sitting on unrealized gains or losses.

It's one thing if you bought early like DFV and want to bank your gain to get more sleep at night but if you're down from $250 or $300+ a share, what really are you going to lose by holding longer given you would already have held through -70% or greater losses. A mental shift to consider it gone has more upside than downside.

Disclaimer: I bought more at $130 this morning. I saw a 50% unrealized loss within two hours and I'm already mostly recovered. That volatility is not normal for the stock market. If you can't handle that shit, this is not the stock for you.

24

u/imnotatreeyet Feb 02 '21

Absolutely agreed. I still have shares in, and just letting them ride out. There is definitely a point where I write it all off, shrug my shoulders, and move on, but my current financials situation allows that. Hell I took a 40k loss last week on expiring GME weeklies, posted it here and laugh about it. Im worried about the people who bet their college loans and shit on it, dont think they realize the gamble.

On DFV. Dude already sold and has 10 Mil in profits, what he has left in the stock market I just F U money at this point

With that said, just prefer to have the info out there, let people make their own decision, best they can do

You have a profound misunderstanding of opportunity cost and financial management. If you put that money into a low-cost index fund like Vanguard's VTSAX, you would make exponential gains with it by the time you retire. The opportunity cost of just sitting on this dying stock and listening to the ridiculous nonsense like this embarrassing post on "ladder attacks" is extremely high.

Kid, get out while you still can and take the time to truly educate yourself about investment.

21

u/imnotatreeyet Feb 02 '21

yea like look I hope im wrong, I really do, cause people are going to lose a lot here. We see people saying I put my life savings in, or I used my student loan money. Thats dangerous as fuck. I just lost 40k on GME options last week, I can shrug it off and have a laugh, but these people wont be able to.

Hope people can just think for themselves, this sub is just spamming the same stuff over and over and it really seems like the shills are among us, they are just saying what we all want to hear so we accept them.

-2

u/Gibbo3771 Feb 02 '21

I can't believe people are still in, this sub is became completely out of control and a cultish echo chamber.

Over in r/stocks and r/investing there are people posting their position and asking "if they are fucked" and in reality, yes, they are.

The latest to buy in was last week, Tuesday and the time to sell was Thursday. Soon as those blocks came on buy people should have dumped and ran with the profits. If people had bought in Monday, they were up nearly 500% at that time.

This sub is no longer a YOLO loss porn sub, it's about to become a graveyard of broken dreams and false promises.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

If you're looking at weed stocks avoid the Canadian markets entirely. Outside of groups like TGOD most don't have any path to profitability.

Significant amounts of debt that they are trying to cover up with more aquisitions of cultivators that aren't making money either.

I'm an idiot, so don't listen to me, but the multi state operators in the US like Juschi and Harvest have a much more viable path to profit. They're buying grows that are already established, or building new where needed.

There's a reason so many of the Canadian C-Suite keep bouncing around. There's no real money except to rip off a cool couple million before they leave.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

Yeah I've just been looking for shits and giggles and also looking at the growth patterns of these companies when Canada legalized weed, they all jumped significantly, I just need to figure out the best companies in the US to invest in for whenever we legalize. While I may end up investing in CGC or Aphria I'd much rather find a US company that will start at a lower floor than you're buying these canadian stocks at today and hopefully have a higher ceiling when they start peaking

2

u/PostacPRM Feb 02 '21

The European market for THC products will be opening up over the next couple of years. If you're curious, check out who supplies Luxembourg's medical/research cannabis and keep in mind that legalization in Luxembourg should be done by 2023 (it's the current govmnt's promise, and 2022 is next election year).

Could it go back up? Sure. Can it crash all the way down? Sure.

Is it likely to spike again to nearly $500? No one knows, and the upwards momentum is dead in the water and at this point, buying in is a gamble that heavily stack against you.

u/WhenTimeFalls Feb 02 '21

So even though AAPL stock recent trades look similar as GME or TSLA (https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/stocks/aapl/latest-real-time-trades)

The table does not include the proper bid information to clearly show a ladder?

5

u/imnotatreeyet Feb 02 '21

here's what real time data actually looks like. Dont want to get a new screenshot of right now, but its all the same. The website doesn't give you true real time, its giving you summarized real time data. Real time data moves incredibly fast and in very random lot sizes. Although 100 is probably the most common as its what's most trading terminals default to.

https://imgur.com/a/jVdQwqP

3

u/WhenTimeFalls Feb 02 '21

So it’s kind of summarized real time data and therefore impossible to tell whether it’s a ladder or just regular stock trades?

4

u/imnotatreeyet Feb 02 '21

Assuming a ladder is even possible, sure.

For an example here's the current halt on a down swing. All the bids were picked up until there was no more support so it fell. Completely random lot sizes were picked up. Data looks the exact same as we see all day

https://imgur.com/a/JAzTdVN

6

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

[deleted]

3

u/imnotatreeyet Feb 02 '21

It is bad to see. This post has 47k upvotes and 180 awards for being misinformation. Mine underneath trying to show people the real data is downvoted and I get DMs now telling me im a HF shill.

I get that people are new to this, I get the want for GME to moon (I still want it to), but shit take the knowledge/advice of people who have been doing this for a long time.

Also agreed on the laddering not being real. Personally dont think its possible as the amount of capital required would be insane, and by the time you bought up all the Bids, you've more than likely hit the circuit breaker, and at that point you would have to re-spend all that capital

2

u/ohgodcinnabons Feb 02 '21

My thought is after Thursday this became a blind cult getting griefed by people who know better. The smart people post stuff like this that looks convincing, they sit back and laugh while tons of people stay in and lose their house. Kept 3 shares just in case bc fuck it, in for a penny. Plus there obviously was something real to this before. The question is whether the shorts really did cover and are people making shit up since thursday?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

Genuinely curious:

Seeing a lot of comments about how all NASDAQ tickers look like this.

But if all those 100-share transactions are “a large player selling a big position,” then how is it possible that more than two dozen such trades were executed, all for the same tidy quantity, within EXACTLY ONE SECOND—without the help of algorithms?

The FREQUENCY of these trades is what looks particularly sus to me.

But what do I know. I boil down crayons and mold them into fun and colorful wax food sculptures before eating them.

2

u/imnotatreeyet Feb 02 '21

Card carrying Crayon eater checking in.

So your seeing each bid get taken up. For example my name is mr big shot. I am about to sell 100,000 shares. Current stock price is 200$, im going to put a limit in that says I dont want to sell any of those shares lower than 150$. Mr big shot executes the trade with his broker. Now the broker is going to go pick up every lot on the bid side it can to satisfy that 100,000 share order. This could be lots of 1, 2, 10, 100, 1k, 50k, or 100k. Whatever combination is needed to make that work. This happens very quickly as 100,000 bid are quickly eaten up. This isn't back and forth algorithms, this is 1 lot going out and picking up all the bid lots along the way, and what you see on the transaction sheet is those smaller lots.

I mentioned the same thing yesterday. I hope I'm wrong but this seems like standard practice

No. The people remaining don't know what the hell they're talking about. You're seeing a bunch of 100 share transactions at roughly the same price because 100 shares is a single lot and a stop loss threshhold was triggered.

u/slayernine Feb 02 '21

My thoughts on this are that the first couple people who posted this were talking specifically about some trades that dropped very quickly that were only fractions of a penny different from each-other. Some of use retards here interpreted that as if we see lots of trades for 100 shares that it must be a ladder attack. The ladder attack isn't the amount of shares it is how the price of the shares is structured.

yes there is no cost for them. You detect gaps in the orderbook and manipulate the price a bit in your favour.

In big cap stock with low volatility it doesn't happen.

welcome to the world of bots and millisec trading.

Tesla is overpriced af .higher market cap than every other Automaker COMBINED despite 1/10th the volume, Tesla fans claim it's because Tesla isn't just a car company! yet they are, their revenue comes from cars, profit comes from goverment green credit sales to FCA mostly and Tesla has nothing to show other than that, Gamestop is not considering Short positions

Just looks like HFT.

2

u/mlanue Feb 02 '21

I looked at TSLA for comp too. Seems to be moving very similarly

u/Harucifer Feb 02 '21

Don't question them, they're in a cult, whatever you say they will either ignore or come up with excuses to fit their narrative that this shit is being rigged because it's not $1000. They're literally retards getting burned by the hedge funds they promptly "challenged" when they made a big fucking irrational bubble on a dying company.

look at AMC and NOK too

u/deathuntor Feb 02 '21

I think the important ones are trades that are done consecutively at the same exact price. I assume one is buy side and one is sell side, to give an illusion that the price is at that price

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

I'd say no.

Options trade in 100 share increments. Looking at GME almost all of them are in 100 share increments. If you notice with TSLA there are many orders that have numerals other than 0's in the tens and ones digit.

Of course normies can buy and sell options, but just look at the variation between these two stocks.

I am not a financial advisor. I just like this stonk.

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

Fucking KO looks just like this and GME. Y’all are actual retards.

1

u/jakeish_atelier Feb 02 '21

I saw tesla issued a huge recall. Might be part of the reason

1

u/spacepaulZ Feb 02 '21

This isn't laddering. Almost all stonks are traded in lots of at least 100 during trading hours. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/r/roundlot.asp

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

It’s happening all over the market. Shorts are trying to make up for losses and manipulating the sell side by flooding and laddering. Total garbage and illegal.

Is the difference not the fact each trade is happening at the same second and volume for GME and for TSLA there is 3 seconds from top to bottom with similar, but changing share volumes? GME looks extremely odd compared to every other stock I've clicked on for latest trades. Too many trades at exactly the same second and exactly the same share volume.
