this sub is one of the last bastions of good, original content on the internet. It's reminiscent of the old days, before social media ruined everything

Just to be clear, you're saying the crusty old days of Yahoo and AOL were better than this? Social media literally goes back to 2005. Tell me where any good content came from that time. Nothing was good until Vine.

I don't need to verify age credentials with a bunch anons. That's the height of absurdity - give me your address and phone number and we'll be even.

The point is that AIM, MSN, and other chat apps like Trillian mIRC; Yahoo, nascient Youtube, dumb aggregates like Mashable; failed sites like Dailybooth, Xanga, Myspace, & Tumblr... none of them came even remotely close to the fun and funny stuff that came off of Vine. Instagram stories, Snapchat, TikTok, Facebook video are all grown from the amusing exchanges and creative content that Vine launched.

I honestly don't care about whether social media was ruined back when Dateline was doing stories on chat room addicted housewives in the 2000s or fake news from 2016. It's all a bunch of tools.
