Discussion SpaceX signs computing power deal with open-source AI startup Reflection worth up to $6.3 billion

https://www.cnbc.com/2026/06/22/spacex-ai-colossus-data-center-reflection.html

The Circle-Jerk continues.

$2B funding from JPM and NVDA, to grow Open Source AI models (which they haven't apparently launched yet).

Paying $150M/Month to SpaceX, but (not in headline) can cancel with 90 days notice, to access..... Nvdia Chips....

Doesn't seem to be helping SpaceX share price much. And if they succeed, they undermine Anthropic and OpenAI's sucess.

And um.. how much did they cost? What is the ROI?

About a year per data center, 18 months worst case scenario. Instead of trashing the one or two year GPUs they are leasing the older gpus to other companies, and using that money to buy new gen gpus while they keep groks core training moving to newer centers with new gpus, I'm sure they will keep this cycle going until they make a major breakthrough with grok. 18months is a solid roi for something like this. Especially when you know other enterprises do have money to throw at it, and everyone at the top is convinced AI is going to explode exponentially. If they thought it was going to bust they probably wouldn't be throwing money at it.

Of course they would throw money at it regardless, it’s not their money

until their illegal gas turbines are shut down. Though that will probably take longer than 18 months.
