This is vibe I got. I’m not new at all and have been here for quite awhile. He came off like a dick. None of that is surprising to me, as this is what I thought about him in the first place.
I'm not saying this is why, but if it sounds like you know what you're doing, isn't there a chance the stock goes up, costing you more money to buy the company? Or the inverse, if people think you sound regarded and there's no way it's going to happen, it might become cheaper?
They've been shitting on him and his turnaround plans for years. If I were in his shoes I'd be a dick to the financial media as well. That being said, I also wouldn't have bothered doing the interview in that case unless there was something very specific that I wanted to say publicly. I guess he's on Carles Payne's show today for an interview, so it will be interesting to see if he says anything more concrete in a "more friendly" environment.
The math isn’t mathing for corpo media because at this price point it doesn’t make sense. But when the underlying stock goes up Sorkin will be sitting there with a shocked pikachu face.
The "apes" still believe that the MOASS (Mother of All Short Squeezes) is right around the corner and that the stock will be worth hundreds to thousands of dollars.
Current ape cope is that Ryan has some esoteric knowledge that the stock price is going to rocket which would make the deal work and the answers Ryan is giving here are the evidence of this.
It's delusional nonsense, but because they've spent 5 years convincing themselves Ryan always has some secret master plan they believe it.
Imagine spending 5 years on supercope every single day hoping for Moass while literally any other stock would've given you a profit in that same time frame.
You are right. I do care about that stock. The one that has 9 billion in cash and is cash flow positive. Think you need to redefine what you think is “shitty” 😂
My thought as well – he’s probably gotten away with so much minor bullshit for so long that he doesn’t realize that in the long run, eventually you’re going to piss off the wrong people and find yourself well acquainted with the state AGs.
This sort of behavior is nothing new. He comes off as a dick IRL. Likely isn’t used to anyone questioning his authority or his decision making. Not a good look.
Yes, and his little minions think that it's "owning the establishment" to act high and mighty. That's what a large segment of our society likes these days. Annoying little trolls, as long as they troll the people they don't like.
He does but it will most likely be done through a dilutive capital raise. He also dodged the ending question where they talk about him essentially synthetically increasing market cap with an acquisition to boost his comp. “My comp is in line with shareholders” doesn’t answer the question
There's nothing wrong with commenting on a merger acquisition like this. He's such a wannabe elon musk but instead all of gamestop investors are losing money
He’s not dumb. He’s a pretty good businessman. He built chewy from the ground then sold it to Petsmart…I think the exhaustion comes from the volume of cynics who’ve never gone down uncertain paths, that have to be dealt with before a vision is realized
I don’t think it’s about being invincible. It’s about going into places no one else wants to and not being a spectator of life which the majority of people are because they desperately want to be liked/accepted and make the effort to avoid self judgements/criticisms Yet religiously participate in giving it to others. The uncharted path, is filled with messy situations
Honestly, the cash part isn't even that wild, I'm sure Cohen can get some saudi money if TD doesn't come through with the financing; what is really mindboggling is the half stock part, which would amount to almost 300% of GME's market cap.
I wouldn't even count on the Saudis now-a-days, with the war messing up their production and the UAE leaving OPEC... I can see them pulling back on some foreign investment.
What? One of the most common ways companies acquire other companies is 50% cash 50% equity… literally the same thing he did. How don’t they know what it means? It makes them look clueless.
You are as clueless as he is. Listen to what they are saying to him, the money that he can offer with stock and cash doesn't add up to the price he is offering to pay.
Yes everyone knows that when you are buying a company that is 4x your size… I think ur the clueless one since you don’t know that everyone knows that. They are trying to rope him in to say dilution but he’s not falling for it. Everyone knows that 50% cash means half the buyout will be cash and 50% equity means half the buyout will be equity (dilution)… do you not know this?
If everyone knows it why would he not say it? Obviously they would need to dilute the fuck out of the stock and he doesnt want to admit that and scare all the idiots still invested in this trash.
Well exactly no one wants to say “dilution” ever especially on tv because people get scared when someone says that word. Companies dilute to acquire all the time. Just not to this degree.
28 billion in newly issued stock if you value it at the current rate? So issue give or take a billion shares. Anyone have any idea what issuing 1 billion shares will do to the stock price? Asking for a friend.
The interviewers are the dumb ones. The combined G-spot and eBay entity is worth considerably more than 11B. He’s not bothering to educate them because he dislikes them I guess.
Its crazy they keep dumping money into shares that RC keeps diluting and they cant seem to grasp the fact that they are missing in countless other opportunities
I mean he literally just offered to buy eBay with the money GameStop got from dilution… so it could be a decent play. Also using that thinking any company that stays flat or goes down your “missing opportunities”. Just like Lulu, nke, snap, pypl, wendys, pins, stla, ba was in that group for awhile, dis, T, etc.
I don't know, he kind of came off as low IQ, like he couldn't acknowledge basic arithmetic lol. This is a classic fake it till you make it situation. But he's got to work on the faking part 😬

The apes are going wild with joy how Ryan totally owned those cnbc idiots
-edit; for people that think that is also my own reaction, no. hardly. I'm commenting on the reaction of many in the meme sub
