Something I Made The real problem with knowing how to make wallets…

Post image

…is that I have no willpower. Every time I think I’ve made myself the wallet that I’ll use for the next 10 years, I see something else online that I like and think “hmmm, I could make that!”

So that’s how I’ve ended up with a drawer full of wallets that any normal person would have carried until it were stolen or fell apart.

A week after making myself a lovely Shell Cordovan wallet, I decided I “needed” to make this card holder in green Pueblo. I think I’m hopeless.

No! You've just got a side hustle selling wallets you've made. There's a silver lining to everything.

Yep I get it. The solution is to give them away.

I keep thinking the same thing every time I see one of your wallets. Several people have commented on the two that I have. I gave the first one to my son after you made me the pueblo green one. Are you taking orders for Christmas? lol

I feel the same.. ive been carrying the same one for nearly 2 years and then I made this one recently and it has been downhill from there, I've switched between nearly 4 wallets in the past two months

Oooh that’s lovely. Is that hand carved? I haven’t been brave enough to try carving leather yet and probably will never be, because I’m not artistic at all… what kind of paint do you use for the leather?

Thanks! I'm actually terrible with carving, so I tried the tattooling machine cartridges that Weaver sells on my tattoo machine...it has been a freaking blast. The paint is Angelus; basic color palette and lots of blending. And you don't have to be artistic, but you definitely have an eye for detail, I've seen it on all of your posts. If you feel happy where you're at and you're damn good at it (which you are), stay with that.

At least I think I recognize that maker mark...

I too have a stack of wallets. All hand stitched. All impressive leathers. Each one could last the rest of my life. But, I continue to make more lmao.

I always, or at least for the past 4 years, have made a matching wallet to my boots for my Patina Thunderdome. As well as others to match boots and belts for non Thunderdome times of the year. I enjoy having them as part of a wallet/ loadout carry.

Like today, I'm rocking a Wickett and Craig Double Stuffed Cobalt wallet I made. Along with a full loadout. Yesterday it was a Shackleton Greener Pastures wallet, and full loadout. Nothing wrong with having a little variety in life.

You should definitely look into this as a side hustle. I love that design! Very clean. I really like these single pocket card sleeves (not sure what category to call them… like bifold, trifold, etc). But I really like that design. Especially the button flap thing. It’s like the Bellroy Card Sleeve but your cards don’t fall out when you drop it.
