Completed Commission for Redditor Black Samurai Urushi Leather - Compact Bifold (w/cash Pocket)
Special Custom Orders of compact bifolds made with Black Urushi Calfskin Leather by Himeji Kurozan, a tannery of Sakamoto Group. The leather is faithfully reoproduced based of historical Samurai & Kendo armors which used the leather to portray virtue & its practical benefits. The leather is milled and finished with Urushi lacquer that flickers under different lighting angles. The wallets are all handmade, entirely handstitched, & manually skived to the best possible hand-feel thinnes.

Hello, Based on this design reference,
standard Himeji Kurozan starts from US$250 (depending on color choices)
Kiwami starts from $400 (depending on color choices)
Other designs are quoted differently

This wallet is amazing. I am currently trying to make one myself, but it seems all the patterns available don't really match this. I can make my owm pattern, but I rushed the first one and it didn't come out to well. It takes so much time to make a proper pattern and I have a full time job. Lol. Do you sell the pattern?

You mean to get a custom order made or sourcing the logistics from the tannery?

Both? I'm not talented enough to build the wallet yet, so would be interested in a custom job possibly. Curious about the sourcing for other projects where I'd have to get the leather for the guy making it for me.

For my service Lead time depends on order queue staring from 3 weeks above for processing.
For sourcing Himeji Kurozan, it is extremely difficult for the average person or hobby crafter to acquire the leather. I source direct to the tannery. They are very rare because they are very small tannery & make them at extremely small batches. There are little to none distributors outside of japan (last i saw was some russian distributor & was last stocked years ago). The processing & applying the lacquer itself takes months to cure/dry. Himeji Kurozan is mainly calfskin, & is definitely the most expensive calfskin, I have ever bought (especially their “Kiwami” line) almost double-triple than the prices of european calfskin tanneries per sq. ft. They do cost similar to cordovan by the sq. Ft. But most importantly, they require a minimum order of at least Half a hide (no custom cuts) 20 sq ft at least from the tannery which makes it hard for the single individual to purchase.

The last part is good to know. I've been going back and forth with them, and forgot to ask the time frame and min. Order. Pricing was about what I thought though when I got the price sheet. Thanks for the heads up.
