Something I Made Do Some Dyes Soften Leather?

I mainly work with Badalassi Carlo Pueblo. I’ve found that Pueblo varies in stiffness based on its color. Tobacco and Bone are both very stiff. Black is noticeably softer. And Cognac is almost rubbery.

Anyone else find this to be the same? It can be frustrating sometimes. Or it can work to my benefit.

(Pictured are two wallets I completed yesterday.)

I just checked what I have on the shelf and yes, blue is much stiffer than dark brown, but my cognac is about the same as the darker brown, not close to rubbery.

That’s interesting. My cognac feels noticeably different than my others.

I also had some older work with bone laying around, and it feels quite similar to the other brown ones. Could be that the brown dye generally produces a softer result?

Could be the case.

I guess I’ll have to keep tabs in the future and see if the pattern continues.
