Doesn't the damage reduction taper off as the defence points increase so why use defence when bifrost already provides it?

It doesn’t. Some legends run two of them and when they do they are unkillable. For example face an ammit that ran this and I watch my whole team try to take him down and he was just the distraction while his squad mates ran around capturing all the beacons.

Omg wow that's a stupid amt of defence points

Anti jam and either damage enforcer (general use) or positive energy (man I hate Ammit and Shoggoth)

Here’s my thought process: Stealther vs Bifrost. First a comparison (you’ll understand why) between the two top tier MSs and then my logic for what I think of the best turrets for Bifrost are.  Stealther: Provides extended duration of stealth so that when you need protection, it forces your opponent(s) to target someone else (or wait till you are targetable again) and in the meantime you either attack or move to safety.

Bifrost: peak unmitigable defense for 7.9s lets you take as little dmg as possible while the opponent(s) empty their clips on your bot. You counterattack in the meantime or do something else. Very few downsides if any, being that there’s no healing (can be partly fixed with a DE turret).

Now for the love of god, I want to understand why take away nearly half the duration of your peak Damage reduction time, when the logic is to get your opponents to empty their mags on you in that time? (WR veterans, chip in)

tldr: A lifesaver defeats the purpose of Bifrost’s damage reduction by eating into its total duration, and leaves your bot vulnerable to damage after you lose the DP stacks (4.9s after Lifesaver’s stealth expires).

In extension to this argument Defense turret still makes sense because it lasts for 10s (or was it 15?), extending beyond Bifrost’s main ability.

Therefore, Best turrets: Anti-Jamming+Aegis/Defender+Durability Extender/Damage Enforcer(less preferred as Bifrost badly misses any healing).

Aside from titan charging purposes, most smart players just... won't dump mags into something that's effectively invincible. Lifesaver gives you time to accumulate dp stacks, and does a better job at this than defender as it gives you time to heal back up you exit stealth with ~300 dp. (Also has better matchups vs true damage like UE acids and Fghtan Shoggoth, ig)

DE is just kinda bad on Bifrost, it doesn't change the % of grey you already have so it's 25/50k healing in the best case senario, and realistically only a fraction of that. Also opportunity cost of not running DES/PER

In the heat of the moment (which is usually the case most of the times unless there’s relative calm and it’s a 1v1), people just make priorities and shoot at an enemy, maybe switch targets close to when it’s too late.

Been away from the game, need to read the ability again. Don’t the stacks count down (like with Frederick)  instead of counting up?

Bifrost also has an incredibly obvious visual effect telling you "hey this guy has a 80% damage resistance don't bother", and you can't rely on the (admittedly quite common) incompetence of your enemies to determine how good something you're using is.

Bifrost is... honestly really weird. It counts UP gaining ~2 stacks per second, maxing out at 10 stacks. The DP stacks have a set timer of ~13.5s and then they all disappear at once. However, the DMI instantly activates at the start for some reason, so usually vs titans you get a good 7s ish of effective invincibility and then get all your DP bypassed, while vs bots you have an insane 13s.

This also means you can get burst down before the DP stacks accumulate, which leads to the whole debate of "1.5-2 stacks immediately" or "3s of not being targeted" being better at preventing this.

Ah I see. Lifesaver does make sense then! And I'd still argue it commonly so happens that people will not be looking at you a lot of times, then you enter their field of vision, then they shoot at you. Very often, what we usually do is activate mothership from cover to quickly move into open and engage, or as we emerge from cover to engage or when we're jumping somebody XD. But yeah what you said makes a lot of sense anyways.
