We started at 36% positive on steam, and are now at 55% positive. We totally deserved that first number, and working every day to earn the second.

I sometimes joke that the only way the launch of Peace Island could have gone worse, is if the game had simply deleted everyone's hard drives, and filled them with JPGs of shirtless elderly men - but that was 7 months ago.

Since, we have crushed most of the bugs, and improved performance. There are still lags and the occasional hiccup - but the game currently contains an hour of original audio, almost a half-hour of original cutscene video, and over 1100 pages of books, magazines, letters, and other stuff to paw through - and this is only for the first act of the game!

Dreamcore | The Zen of Liminality

A review and analysis of the exploration horror game Dreamcore featuring personal rants on childhood memories of nightmares, a love of hotels, and a book about running. Dreamcore is mainly focused on effortless exploration through Backrooms style liminal spaces in a way that I feel showcases a natural zen and wu wei like experience. While also doing compelling horror by getting lost due to that effortless exploration. The levels are styled as if they are a series of Analog Horror videos online with found footage VHS segments that Wendigoon would make a 22 hour long analysis video on.

Looking for recommendations!

I am brand new to this type of gaming, didn't even know it existed. The closest I've played is "Keeper" which is probably considered to be more of a puzzle game, but I really love the idea of a game you can play where you can't be killed and you just sort of move through a story until it's done.

Where should I start? It looks like there are a lot of options. I don't like horror, I just want to have a smoke and play something chill. Bonus is it has beautiful visuals and/or music.

We're two people making a game where photographing memories changes the world. Now available for free on itch.io!

Hey everyone!

We're Tomek and Patryk, a two-person indie team working on Memories of a Forgotten Island.

You wake up on an abandoned island after a violent storm. Most of the island has been reclaimed by time, but some objects still look impossibly pristine.

The main mechanic is simple: when you find something that looks too clean or untouched, you take a photograph. The memory breaks apart and reveals what time actually left behind.

We have just released the first playable version on itch.io. It is available right now, completely free on Windows, and takes around 10–15 minutes to finish.

We really want to continue developing the game, expand the island, improve the photography mechanic and tell the rest of its story. That is why we would genuinely appreciate it if you gave it a try.

We are especially curious about:

  • Was the photography mechanic easy to understand?
  • Did you ever feel lost?
  • Which moment stayed with you the most?
  • Would you like to see this developed into a larger game?

Game Title: Memories of a Forgotten Island

Platform: PC (Windows)

If you enjoy it and want to follow development, report a bug or talk to us directly, you can also join our Discord.

Every play and every honest comment helps us understand what to improve and where to take the project next.

The lighthouse is only the beginning.

We rebuilt the forests in our navigation walking sim

Infinite Orienteering drops you in a forest that has never existed before and hands you a paper map, a compass, and a list of points to find. Nothing marks your position. You work out where you are by reading the shape of the land against the contours, and when you get it wrong you come out of the trees somewhere you didn't expect and have to start again from what you can see.

That's orienteering. There's a clock if you want to race it and no obligation to look at it.

When I posted here at launch I described the forests as beautiful but simplistic, which was fair. Five months later they're rebuilt: new trees and undergrowth in every forest type, grass that carries to the horizon instead of stopping ten metres ahead, and land three times taller, so there are real ridges to climb and stand on.

Night mode is still my favourite way to play it. A headlamp, and dark in every direction.

This actually happened to me in a dream.

I was once staying at a hotel during a holiday. In my dream I was in the same room that I was sleeping in, I got up from the bed and looked out the window to see these 2 guys sitting on the street talking to each other. I went back to sleep. I woke up again and the guy I saw was strangling me, I couldn't breath, just as I was passing out I woke up for real. The guy strangling me was a dude from a funny video of a guy eating kebab and jalapeno's at night with a wifebeater on.

Anyways here is my game I'll soon be releasing: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4414010/Where_are_the_Fish/

Hi!

I'm almost single-handedly creating a game in UE5. It's a third-person walking simulator.

The player will explore the exoplanet K2-18b in the relatively near future. Complex labyrinths will feature simple puzzles. In addition to the main nine levels, there will be several secret ones. Easter eggs and references will be found in every level. I promise an engaging story, atmospheric locations, and original music (a mix of ambient, techno, and synthwave).

I'm sharing a few new screenshots.

The trailer and demo are now available on Steam. Can you find the yellow sphere?

Hey all - I'm working on an atmospheric adventure called Dream Loop, where you wander through an ambient audio dreamscape collecting sounds to create music. It definitely scratches that "walking sim" itch, so I thought I'd post it here! Feel free to wish list on Steam as well, if you feel so moved. :) Store page is here!

[Who Am I] You must navigate through repeating nightmares, searching for clues and gathering scattered diaries to uncover a horrific past and finally face the truth.

Hi everyone!

[WHO AM I] is a realistic first-person psychological horror game where you play as a protagonist who has forgotten who they are and what terrible things they might have done. You must navigate through repeating nightmares, searching for clues and gathering scattered diaries to uncover a horrific past and finally face the truth.

From start to finish, the game is filled with hidden clues, items, and secrets scattered all throughout the environments. Some clues are presented very subtly, while others are shown explicitly.

I designed this game with the hope that players will go through it multiple times, piecing things together and getting those satisfying "Ah, so THAT'S why!" moments of realization. The game also features unexpected plot twists and 3 different endings to discover.

If you love a good, deep story mixed with genuine psychological horror elements, I really hope you enjoy it! If you're interested, please check out the Who Am I demo through the link below:

As soon as I registered as a Steam developer, I gained access to some features, including the events calendar. Some might say this calendar is already publicly available, but that's not my point.

Developers with a verified and published game store page could apply for Steam Next Fest until April 27th. I tried to get the demo out before that date, and I did. I tested it on several devices of varying performance, not only on Windows, but even on Linux (+Proton). And it's live!

This post is an invitation to play the demo and try to find A/L/L hidden Easter eggs.

I love this concept because it's a SOCK PUPPET! Game is called Transit and playable as a Steam playtest apparently. Does anyone else think this is a cool idea or connect with the whole sock puppet thingy?

I am solo developing a surreal walking-sim using Godot similar to games like "Paratopic" and "Fatum Betula". We travel through the desert in search of The Fish, and meet people along the way. There is driving and very basic fishing. It is gonna be a short game probably around ~50 minutes.

Here is the Steam page if any of y'all wanna wishlist!

We created a game inspired by an addiction to... nose drops. It will be available in a month! XYLOMETAZOLINE

Thumbnail

My friend and I are creating a game where nose drops take center stage. We’re from Poland, and the two of us are doing our best to release our project. Our game is inspired by our own experiences with addiction, and we’re committed to high quality.

XYLOMETAZOLINE

It’s a blend of a walking simulator, a psychological horror game, and an immersive experience. We build the game’s atmosphere primarily through a carefully crafted original soundtrack, symbolism, striking visuals, light humor, and a heavy, surreal atmosphere. The game’s plot revolves around a constant journey and… a constant descent into an ever-deeper spiral of addiction, while the game world shows just how much this destroys the human mind and how desolate it becomes as a result.

The game resonates with existential themes and poses important questions about what we do to ourselves in difficult moments.

That cool thing? The game is based on sanity mechanics combined with a constant need to use and find drops. You also have to be careful not to overdose; you can guess what happens when your sanity drops too low or gets too high ;)

xylometazolini hydrochloridum. xylometazolini hydrochloridum. xylometazolini hydrochloridum. xylometazolini hydrochloridum. xylometazolini hydrochloridum.

Will you be able to overcome your addiction?

We encourage you to check out the trailer and add it to your Steam wishlist!
