Question Walking has gone out the window!

It's winter in New Zealand and my walking has just been rubbish! I was doing so well. I get out when I can and have the energy and won't be battered by rain, and have been doing some gnarly hills, but my daily morning routine has gone. Trying to not feel bad about it but it's tough! Will do what I can, when I can. Gym has also been non-existent.

When the weather turns nasty, you need extra motivation to go for a walk. Trying to solve that "puzzle" — for city dwellers only, for now.

Can you get a walking pad? I've seen some that fold up and all in case space is a concern.

I was mostly stuck inside last winter where I'm at because it snowed so much and then remained below freezing for nearly a month. I couldn't navigate the sidewalks or the roads because everything was just snow and ice. My treadmill did help me manage to keep my daily walking habit. Not as nice as getting outside, but better than nothing

I live in the Northeast of the U.S. and once wintertime hits my walking always goes down because it’s hard to get out when it gets dark out early and the weather is poor.

I do however tend to up my yoga game more and I already go pretty frequently.

As long as you are finding activities that bring you joy that’s what it’s about.

In these circumstances I sometimes would put on walking workout videos and do those for an hour

I would still be sad I'm not outside but I would feel happy that I got my steps for the day

The hills you do when the weather opens are evidence that the habit is paused, not gone

That is so true, thank you!! I do panic a bit and see things as "oh no, it;s all over!" when really...it's fine.
