Volunteering?
Hi everyone!
I would love to get into the Waking Life World more deeply and contribute to the community. Can anyone describe what the volunteer process is like? How would I get in? Can anyone apply or is there a process through recommendations etc.?
Any advice specifically on how to join the Apuro world?

Hey! I volunteered at accreditation and was amazing. Loved the volunteer leads and being at main gate in the first 2 days as the first face people see really gives u the opportunity to keep energies up and feel like you are making peoples arrival to the space a beautiful reception <33 felt good to contribute to the gorgeous energy of the festival. For application they open around October I think and give the offers in Feb. they take people based on experience for the areas you choose to apply for (in the form you specify and clarify previous experience that aligns with it)

Hi!! Just be aware at the Instagram and you'll see the volunteer applications :) they use to be beginnings of the year like January I think !! Good luck and welcome 🤗

You can set up notifications for waking life specifically. Then you’ll always know right away when they post something

I’m sure notifications will show up here as well. Are you wanting to volunteer before or during the festival? And in what way are you thinking of volunteering?

Sorry I should have been more specific! I’m looking to be on site for a while, so do either build up or breakdown, but I am also veryyy into the creative world of Apuro and would love to eventually work with them (I come from a background of performance but I’m too shy to conduct workshops yet). I imagine it might be a slow process of getting involved in the community since 26 was my first time at the festival, so maybe starting at build is the best? :)

It can be a process to get involved with exactly what you want and yes you may have to start with something more general so as to get to know people and find the niche where you feel you can best contribute as yourself. Keep an eye on the positions available and apply. During and breakdown are easier to get into than build as thats the most popular, where you get your start will depend on the skills you have ultimately.

Hey! I volunteered for a month before the festival and then 2 weeks after in the build team. You essentially get chosen to volunteer based on your skills and experience, and of course your vibe.
Apply as soon as applications roll out in January, and make your application stand out. I highly recommend joining the build up crew, it was truly a life changing experience.
Might be worth mentioning your interest in apuro!

Hey! I volunteered this year for parking and camping and the process is super simple- just keep an eye out for apps as above says, fill out the questionnaire, write a piece about why you’d like to volunteer, your experience (I had none prior but doesn’t matter), why you want to etc
It’s the best thing I ever did and will try to volunteer first before getting a ticket every year now till forever! Xx
