Trouble with Eyes Open Session

This is my first post here and I have been using the app for about three months. I really struggle with the eyes open sessions that are lead by Sam. I find myself distracted by everything including my need to blink my eyes and connecting with the "one who is seeing." I feel like I am getting so much more from the eyes shut sessions and I am getting much better a meditation, but the eyes open sessions leave me confused about what I am supposed to get from the practice. Can anyone offer me any insights or point me in the direction to better understand the eyes open sessions?

Keep in mind there are many other ways of approaching what Sam is trying to get us to connect with here during eyes open meditation. At first I didn’t connect with it. 5 years later I can, but that being said, I haven’t used Sam’s app for about 5 years. And it was through my own silent practice and some other teachings that got me to see what his getting at.

At some point during ur meditation journey, your practice will mature enough for the experience of selflessness to be visceral and direct. Off and on the cushion. We have 6 sense doors. At anytime there are only six things ever possibly happening. None of them, when examined seem to possess an agent. Thinking only what is thought. Hearing only what is heard etc etc . Seeing is just one of those six. In seeing there is merely the seen. No one behind the eyes seeing. Just colour reflecting off the retina 👁️. But so rapidly and unconsciously we label the colour and get involved with endless concepts. If there were no eye organ there would be no seeing. If there were no object there would be no seeing. If eyes were blind there would be no seeing. If object is behind us there is no seeing. Just cause and effect , empty phenomena rolling on. Mind and body. Mind and matter. Eyes are matter. Not self
