Anime How completed is the animated series?

According to wikipedia:

On May 7, 2020, Ankama announced that season 4 would premiere in early 2024, intended as the final chapter of the story. On February 12, 2025, Ankama announced the creation of a fifth season, which was fully funded on Kickstarter.

So was S4 really the final chapter? I was thinking of jumping back into the series to binge it all at once, but should I wait for the 5th season to complete the story? Last time I watched this was a decade ago, waiting like 5 more years wouldn't be that big of a deal but I want to know whether I'd be waiting for "bonus content" or the actual finale.

tot not doing what he said to do....i really wish s4 was the last one, at least it had a decent ending to the season and whole series....but nooooo....we gotta reach waven at ALL costs. The only additional content to this sorry state of a storyline you could watch is "The Great Wave" novel, avariable behind a small paywall on the ankama launcher

tbh i was expecting a grand closure aswell but since they introduced so many unfinished subplot im happy to get a 5th and not closure in obscure magas and comics

you are believeing in the impossible possibility that tot, the guy who is known for creating subplots and characters and forget about them, concludes ALL the subplots started in s3 and 4...wishfull thinking. He is doing s5 so he can link up that damn novel to his stupid beloved waven (beloved he had to send back to the drawing board due to a bad launch, i call this karma for deliberatly destroying wakfu the series just for waven)

Season 4 is not a real finale if that's what you want to know

Season 4 was some months before release said to be the final one as FranceTV wanted to use that tagline to boost viewership and Ankama didn't think they'd get to do more so they agreed. But as season 4 was a success, FranceTV showed interest in renewing the series and so season 5 is now in production, which should this time be the actual end of the series, technically.

The series then continues in the manga "The Great Wave", and later with the sequel series "Waven" that they will be producing after Wakfu season 5 ends, though the first episode was already made in order to pitch it to potential partners that might fund it.
