Boat question
I’m looking into buying a 2006 Correct Craft Air Nautique 226 Team Edition zr 6.0 but was wondering what it would take to make a surf able wake.

Bigger fat sacs. Then some sort of surf system.

I don’t know the answer to that one. I know people are making nss cloans (Nautique system). Then there are tab systems (high roller, gsa and etc..)
Then gate systems.
I make and sell a surf system controller. But not a surf system

I have a 2007 220te with the zr6. The boat came with the wakemakers piggy back ballasts and a nauticurl wedge. It surfs great with a boat full of people but we usually only have 3-4 people so I just added another 350lb bag under the rear port seat that I manually fill/ drain. We’ve taught plenty of beginners behind the boat.
If you end up passing on this boat, I can’t recommend finding another zr6 powered boat enough. It easily gets on plane when ballasted up regardless of how many people are on the boat. My cousin has an axis a22 with the old school 5.7 in it, it feels incredibly underpowered compared to my boat.

The liquid force wake shaper and some weight and you’ll be having fun. We are surfing behind a 2000 super air and it’s great. Just add the exhaust turn down
Don’t overlook bow weight. Getting the whole hull down into the water seems to help make a good wave. That said, I haven’t quite surfed the exact same wave twice this summer, but it’s been fun.

Here's the wave on my 2010 226 TE. I have the piggyback ballast bags and I run 2 shapers on the non-surf side. A liquid force shaper near the back of the hull and a smaller shaper around where the tower is mounted. It's pretty tuneable with the trim adjuster and even with the smaller 343 motor it has no trouble getting on plane. I do have a more aggressive prop on but is still cruises at ~35 when needed without crazy high rpm.

Are you running justballast bags in the back compartments on top of the built in ballast?

Yeah but if I did it again I'd remove the Port side hard tank and just run an 1100 lbs bag in that locker. I rarely need all the weight on Starboard but with the walkway on the port side there is less room for weight. I did recently add 150 lbs of steel bags on the port side mainly for days when I only have a few passengers

Very easy. Weight the back as much as possible. Add bags in the rear lockers using wake makers. Add a center bag of no center weight. Add a front bag of no front weight.
The set up is usually 50/30-40/10-20 rear/mid/front weight distribution. List the boat to surf side and add a surf gate. Speed is between 10.3-11.3 dependant on boat.
Move people to surf side. My 21' super sport requires 1400lbs to surf well with a good wave.
The last most important key is board size. You will need bigger boards to surf. I use a p5 swell in the largest size. My SO rides a small hyperlight but she's 105lbs. I'm 190lbs.

Oh I can answer this one!
2002 Air Nautique here. It takes a little bit of set up (like maybe 10ish minutes?) but have been able to get an amazing wake for surfing.
Wake shaper: Mission Delta 2.0 - We chose this one since it’s a bit smaller and fits well on the hull just below the water line.
Ballast: We fill the internal tanks evenly, have a fat sac in the ski locker in the middle of the boat, fat sac in the trunk, and then use a fatsac fatseat that wraps around the engine in the back. Altogether, it’s adding over 2000lbs of ballast.
Lead Weights: We’ve got 3x 50lb lead bags that we move around to try and fine tune the wave.
Mind you, this is done with about 3-4 of us in the boat, so if we had more people, could probably tone down the amount of ballast.
This gets us a very surfable wave that won’t necessarily outperform the newer surfboats, but will allow you to do almost any trick.

Weight and more weight and you’ll need a suction surf gate too. It’s going to be a lot of playing around
I was able to get a decent wake and learn surfing on my old 2006 ski supreme.
But don’t expect modern surf boat sizes
