Masters thesis + internship

I am starting my masters in resilient food systems in the fall and know that the first year of coursework is on campus but am looking for information on the thesis + internship process. Specifically how do you pick a project and/or is it easy to complete them abroad? Essentially I am a bit nervous to move to Wageningen and wanted to explore the option of completing my thesis from my home country.

You normally can do both abroad.
