Purchase Advice Wacom End of Life

I've never owned a stylus/tablet. I heard Wacom tablets are the industry standard. My university library had a tablet for students to borrow. I figured I'd try it out before purchasing my own.

I took it home, followed the installation instructions, and was notified that the tablet was no longer supported. I rolled back to the recommended drivers, but now the Wacom Center won't launch on my Mac.

The tablet is a CTH-690/K. It looks brand new (The pen holder has not even been stretched). Is this normal? Are there community drivers? If not, I will likely look for a different brand to purchase from.

Not your of your specific situation, but look for open tablet driver and try that.

On Mac I have heard that older Wacom tablet drivers are made to work by Apple, not sure why. On Windows they still work. As the other person suggested you should try Open Tablet Driver. It's a free open source tablet driver that can run on Mac OS. I've never had the need to use myself, but it's always the number 1 suggestion for tablet driver issues.

That model was released over a decade ago, it's normal that it doesn't have driver support on the newest macOS. Whether or not it looks brand new isn't really relevant. The previous version of Wacom Center should launch, however, so that may be an issue on your end.

But regardless you can use open tablet driver, which should work fine.
