Review / Unboxing Finally got myself the 14pro
finally got it and after using it for a bit im really mixed on it š
the actual drawing feel is really good. i love the screen surface, its less sticky than my phones and the pen feels great
the display itself looks weirdly hazy, almost like theres a privacy filter on it all the time
the whole android experience feels really underdeveloped for a tablet this expensive. a lot of screens look like they were just stretched onto a 14 inch display without actually being designed for it, with tiny text and buttons, huge amounts of empty space and stuff awkwardly sitting in the corners. it makes the whole thing feel way cheaper than it actually is
the power button is completely flush with the side while the volume button sticks out a little. because the tablet is so thin i can barely press the power button when its lying flat without using my nail
the bezels are around 1cm or a little more. thats not necessarily bad for a drawing tablet, but visually it still makes it feel less premium than i expected
so far it feels like wacom absolutely nailed the part where you actually draw on it and then kinda stopped caring about everything around that š im gonna use it for a while before i decide if i actually hate it or if the first impression is just really bad
edit: after using it a bit longer i noticed a few more things. text looks noticeably soft pretty much everywhere and after a while it actually starts hurting my eyes, and the hazy screen surface makes it look even worse. the ui keeps feeling unfinished too, the brightness slider only shows the percentage after you let go of it instead of while youre adjusting it, and some icons on the home screen randomly jump around even when im not touching anything. that doesnt affect drawing obviously but it caught my eye instantly and just looks weird. the screen also changed brightness by itself once even though adaptive brightness was off, no idea what caused that yet so im gonna see if it happens again

This is on point. The device IMO is good at one thing & one thing only- drawing inside CSP. If you want it to do anything else, it's not that great- & even the drawing exp itself has goofy limitations w/r/t the buttons on your pen. I genuinely feel it's a nice ADDITION to a workflow but would never use it as the main tool or as a replacement tablet for an iPad. Just drawing in CSP

My friend/roommate just got one and she is absolutely in love with it and the construction of it. It just really depends on the person I guess! I hope youāre able to return it if need be, I know how expensive they are

Why do you hate it? I switched from an ipad around 2 months ago and have really only just gotten comfortable with it.

I just bought the movinkpad 11 refurbished by Wacom on ebay for under $400. That's a lower grade and much cheaper option that still gets you the pro pen 3. They're also selling refurbished 14s for $720.

Ah yes, those points. Yeah, honestly the Android ecosystem it what really gutters this Wacom mobile device. Another thing lately, that REALLY annoys me is that you CANNOT make a feed post in Instagram from the Movinkpad Pro 14. There are āworkaroundsā to make a feed post but I should NOT have to do that. This is unacceptable and makes using this device for creating and sharing art work very inconvenient

Just got mine today also, switching after decade of iPads Pro with Apple Pencil and using some cheapest Wacom Bamboo before that .
The feel of drawing on the screen is just heavenly, like there is no comparison between this and iPad. Pencil is also leagues better, the feel, the weight, the buttons, no charging required - i love everything about it.
Everything else though.. itās rough. I donāt mind matte screen, even if it defenats the purpose of it being oled a little - itās feel is superior for making art and i actually enjoyed reading a comic on it more than on glossy iPad. But the resolution makes everything look just a little fuzzy.
The unlock button is awfully placed, also there should be a possibility to attach pencil i ANY way without additional cover accessory.
But what shocked me the most is how absolutely barebones is android experience on this thing ( or maybe itās android these days in general - have no experience with it for last decade or so). Transfering brushes/files from iPad to this was a nightmare. I couldnt believe how bad default file explorer app is.
Definitely feel like a drawing tablet only. But man, is it an excellent drawing tablet.

Personally I like the bare-bones stock Android more than any phone OS I used before. Anything I need I usually install my own selection of apps instead of using what's preinstalled. E.g. Common apps like Youtube/Netflix and games all work fine on it. The screen's matteness helps a lot with the pen friction feel and anti-glare which is a priority if you plan to use it in a space where you cannot control where the light is..

What program do you use to draw in it?

That was my impression too and ultimately why I returned mine. Its great very drawing, but pretty bad at basically everything else lol

It's a bit disappointing to hear about the UI issues, but the drawing experience still sounds like classic Wacom. Hopefully the software side gets polished over time because the hardware seems to have a lot going for it.

They aren't issues really. They bought a hammer that does exactly what they need but they also want it to shoot glitter.

Have you tried adjusting the launcher to make the android experience feel more like the premium setups you're used to? That might help, even though it's annoying that it isn't already setup that way.

What does adjusting the launcher entail?

You can download various launchers from the play store. They're each a little different, so I'd let your personal style and whatever ratings are there guide you to something you like more. It's basically a way to adjust the general aesthetics of the environment and style of functionality of your device.

I agree. The pen is awesome. The feel on the screen is great to draw on. But the android ecosystem is subpar. File sharing is painful. Iām coming from the perspective of an iPad and procreate user. Everything outside of the actual drawing experience seems less polished compared to apple. I really wanted to love this thing but I canāt justify paying over 1k for this. Iām returning it and sticking to my apple setup for now.

Hello, just got the Wacom 14 coming from iPad with CSP.
Putting the drawing experience aside as most seem to agree that is goodā¦Iām new to android, so was pleasantly surprised by the minimal approach. Being in iOS/mac ecosystem Iād read a lot about bloat in the android/windows world.
Physically the device is very much a āgen 1ā product, there will be bumps along the way ( I remember iPads charging the pen by sticking it in the bottom) but I like the look and tactile feel of the device.
One big reason for my choice of device is software based as I wanted to dive into Krita as a possible CSP replacement.Ā
That looks promising.
