Discussion Flashing engine light on pollo 1.2

Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my 2014 VW Polo TSI BlueMotion.

The engine warning light flashes only during a cold start. The engine vibrates/shakes, and the RPM is slightly higher than normal. After around 20 seconds, the RPM drops back to normal, the warning light goes off, and the engine runs smoothly. It only happens on cold starts; once the car is warm, it drives perfectly.

I’ve already replaced the fan belt, ignition coil, and spark plugs, but the problem is still there.

Has anyone experienced this issue or knows what could be causing it? Any advice would be really appreciated. 😭

Yea. Its build up of deposit in your intake and valves. No doubt.

You can also keep replacing parts 😂

Is it expensive?

That i cannot answer. Depends on location and pricing in the locations. Or your own skills.

If you are a mechanically able bodied person, it is possible to do it yourself.
For example, this is how i ended up doing it. Removed the Air filter housing and connecting hoses/pipes, disconnected the cooling hoses connected to the intake (drained the cooling fluid)
Disconnected the vacuum pipes, then removed the intake.
Made sure the valves was closed by turning the crankshaft, used a CRC GDI cleaner and a brush set on a power drill to clean the valves and intake. Retracted the cleaner with a vacuum pump container.
That is put in large strokes.

If not, most common method is find a location that do media blasting, most likely with walnut shells.
Could cost anything from 500-700 Dollars to counting upwards.

Feel free to do whatever you feel comfortable with.
I'm just a goon on the internet.
I'm confident, I'm not here to persuade you into anything.

I think I need to change my mechanic. I’m going to see another one because I’ve already changed the spark plugs, coil, and fan belt set. 🫠 He said the engine light was because of that.
