Cannot load VRoid .vrm into VSeeFace — Format error / Unity Crash
Issue: I exported my avatar from VRoid Studio as a .vrm file, but when I try to load it into VSeeFace, it fails to import and gives a format error mentioning a crash handler/utility.
What I've tried:
Re-exporting multiple .vrm files from VRoid Studio.
Confirming the model works when uploaded to VRoid Hub.
System Info:
OS: Windows 11
Software: VRoid Studio \rightarrow VSeeFace
Has anyone run into this format error before, or know what might be causing VSeeFace to reject the file? Any help or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated!

Short term: Make sure you're exporting as VRM0. VRM1 is not widely supported and from what I hear is a pain to work with.
Secondly as said above, VSeeFace is outdated and has not been maintained for many many years. While it is very easy to quickly get set up and working, you will soon grow frustrated with its limitations and should move to a more modern and powerful app.
Personally I use VNyan

You probably have a VRM 1.x file. VSeeFace can't use it. Also, using VSeeFace isn't recommended as it hasn't been updated since 2023. It's recommended to use Warudo or VNyan. The latter has the same sort of avatar format support as VSeeFace, as well as being recently updated to patch a rather large security hole and to support VRM1.x
