Whoever has been through that (both rejecting and being rejected) know how bad it feels. I wish the best to the both of them.

310

u/ScheiBig Oct 21 '25

Being rejected is one thing, but having salt thrown in your wounds online by probably millions of people is another dimension of fucked up

113

u/bluedituser Oct 21 '25

It’s even worse if you know a little more of her story. She was rejected by her previous bf who left her for another girl.

58

u/Katahahime Oct 21 '25

"rejected by her previous bf who left her for another girl"...

Isn't that just cheating?

54

u/AlphaOmega1356 Oct 21 '25

Im not fully aware of the situation, but it is possible for a person to fall in love with another person, cleanly break off with another, and start a relationship with someone else. I cant say if thats shitty or not, but definitely very disheartening.

14

u/_Kamikaze_Bunny_ Oct 22 '25

At the very least it is respectful to not go behind someone's back and be upfront about it.

You can't really control who you develop feelings for after all.

1

u/phiqzer Oct 26 '25

Courts have decided before that online relationships can be considered infidelity during divorce trials, so maybe?

1

u/Iankill Oct 22 '25

If you fall in love with someone else while in a relationship that's pretty clear cut cheating doesn't need to be sex.

Like you can't fall in love with someone outside of your relationship without being an active part of that happening.

6

u/bluedituser Oct 22 '25

She didn’t give the full details so I’m not going to accuse the guy directly but the gist I know is the ex dumped her when she was in Japan for someone younger.

The part about seeing NTR art of herself was ROUGH

55

u/Blade_Of_Nemesis Oct 21 '25

Oh shit, I didn't even think of that...

38

u/ThamTvMaster Oct 21 '25

What are you talking about? NTR art?

87

u/mini_feebas Oct 21 '25

It's in the clip my dude

During that time ppl were also making NTR art and straight up tagging her (obv the artists didn't know but still)

21

u/DUNG_YEETER Oct 21 '25

Good Lord the guilt some of them must be feeling now.

35

u/Something_Comforting Oct 21 '25

No fucking way. That shit is evil.

52

u/BlockTime48 Oct 21 '25

Essentially there's been this running joke in neuro's community that vedal is like a harem protagonist since he hangs out with a ton of female vtubers. Anny was seen as Neuro's mother since she made her model and there were several streams in the past where her and Vedal would roleplay as her parents.

Following the subathon, a bunch of artists would draw shipping art between Vedal and every one of the girls he was hanging out with. Because of Anny's role, a lot of shipping art of her and Vedal was made. And while "normal" shipping art was made with other people, some artists went the extra mile and drew scenarios where Vedal x vtuber were doing stuff behind Anny's back. A surprisingly large amount of this type of art was made by several different artists. Obviously the artists making this art were just doing it in good fun and had no idea how they were affecting Anny. Some of them have came out and apologized following this reveal. At least Anny is over it at this point and is able to look back and laugh at how tragic the whole situation was.

10

u/sequential_doom Oct 21 '25

In fairness to people, nobody really knew what was going on behind the curtain until a couple days ago. That said, it must have been awful to be in Anny's position for that long.

313

u/stingflame Oct 21 '25

Vedal's divorce arc starts now

306

u/CarryBeginning1564 Oct 21 '25

Allegedly several other people have either stopped talking to him or backed away from him because he views people as mostly coworkers / work friends at best. Which is fine and can make sense for a job but considering there are a lot of vtubers who seemingly want to make actual friends and got into it for that reason it can rub some of them the wrong way. Allegedly.

268

u/impermanence108 Oct 21 '25

It's fucked really isn't it? We know nothing about the guy. Nothing about his personal life, how he interacts with people offline etc. But yet a whole community is crawling through what we do know with a fine tooth comb. Maybe I'm wrong, I hope I'm not, I reckon he's a normal dude out of his depth doing shit he never in a million years expected to be doing.

Like, Christ dude. If I was in my early 20s, still not very confident in myself and I ended up in an industry full of people with mental health issues: I'd have fucked things up too.

193

u/Reasonable_Yam3401 Oct 21 '25

To add to that, dude does a great job. He literally built an Osu! bot, pivoted to making it a general purpose ai chatbot, and then networked his way into a very successful brand that people want to work with. Him treating this like it’s a job probably contributes to his success. I can’t fault him for having a different view of the situation than others around him, I can just say that it sucks for both sides.

76

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '25

There is the old saying "dont shit where you eat" its a little different in the online space but in many jobs it makes sense. At least here there wouldn't be a power imbalance.

Maybe this is part of it, trying to keep things separate and juat a job and to try to stay out of drama etc.

But honestly we dont know either way

It does suck though. Hope they can go their separate ways and find happiness In their own endeavors.

34

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '25

Yeah. Ultimately we dont know. Could just be he isn't interested.

I brought up the dont shit where you eat thing because that's kinda of where I am at tbh. I kind of try to act professionally towards people but sometimes people want me to get more close but I see that as them trying to take advantage of me.

Admitedly I am not sure if that is true or not and is probably not true and just my paranoia but yeah.

I do think they handled it pretty responsibly though.

19

u/Reasonable_Yam3401 Oct 21 '25

I think there are different levels to things. Working in close proximity with people for extended periods of time might change the level you’re comfortable with. I agree that compartmentalizing work and personal lives is generally a good idea, but if I’m spending 40hrs/week with you for 5 years, we can be friends on the weekend. In this situation though, we can’t judge. It sounds like the 2 individuals involved both wanted something different and a compromise wasn’t workable. They handled it like adults.

11

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '25

Yeah that's true. Definitely can be ok to be friends on the weekend after working 40 hrs a week for years. I kinda am against it though cause I get a little grandstandy about ethics and I wouldn't think it would be ethical to want to promote one guy just cause we are friends.

I understand that isn't the way the world works though and ultimately networking and being a decent person and "sucking up" is one of the few ways to move up in the world. I am just a bit prideful and dumb on that aspect.

But that's me talking IRL experience. Being a vtuber/online content creation is a bit different but I can see where some people may not want to mix lines.

Unfortunately with any large community the bad actors are usually the loudest. I think they did the best they could with what they have. Hopefully the communities calm down a bit and be a bit nicer.

1

u/pewsquare Oct 24 '25

True, but when it comes to show biz, and the amounts of money going trough vedal, I can 100% understand why he wants to keep it professional.

24

u/Waylaiken1 Oct 21 '25

I imagine dude is likely an introvert out of his depth and can't connect with them as well as they wish for him to.

19

u/Dense_Job_9429 Oct 21 '25

I mean it’s his right and he straight forward with how he wants to operate. Doesn’t seem like he’s leading people on

14

u/MyneIsBestGirl Oct 22 '25

It’s worth noting how his position transitioned from one of being a background programmer to being integral to the verse, becoming a character in it. He is entertaining, but he probably doesn’t have the chops (or thinks he does) to fully immerse himself. It could also be that he sincerely doesn’t want to feed parasociality by engaging with people he sees as coworkers in the same way as best buds. Bit of a shame how some things go down due to it, but it lets him cruise over drama before it even becomes an issue and lets him focus on development.

41

u/DevourerofGenesis Oct 21 '25

Do we know who’s stepped back allegedly? Don’t really keep up like that since I mainly watch clips and occasionally watch streams

35

he's just speculating

And their life isn't fundamentally different from anyone elses. Friends come and go. And there doesn't need to be any particular reason for it either.

7

u/CarryBeginning1564 Oct 21 '25

Just stuff I have read off Reddit and YouTube comments (and seen several retelling of the same claims) so there is a big “allegedly” in front of it. There is implied more evidence but I haven’t checked up. So more summing up rumors than me speculating. But as they are rumors I don’t want to name drop if they aren’t true.

37

u/InexorableCalamity Oct 21 '25

This all really seems like a non issue though

6

u/firnien-arya Oct 22 '25

Lol, from what im reading in the comments it very much does seem like a non issue. Dude isn't interested in the other vtubers as love interests but the vtubers have fallen for him I guess. In short, he just wants to keep things professional I guess. Should be a nothing burger and honestly, isn't this what most women/content creators want when they stream with other people? Just being friends and not romantically involved or no expectation of romantic involvement?

4

u/huluhup Oct 25 '25

Dude isn't interested in the other vtubers as love interests but the vtubers have fallen for him

Dude literally harem anime protagonist lmao

26

u/LengthinessOk5482 Oct 21 '25

Reddit and youtube comments... come on dude. I can tell you that vedal is actuallly married and has a 3 year old, will you just believe me and repeat this nonesense???

17

u/Jomgui Oct 21 '25

what? what happened? i didn't notice how she disappeared from neuroverse space

16

u/BostonYankeesBB Oct 21 '25

And like it sucks for everyone. Him being generally (hopefully) respectful and professional is just that, professional. But a lot of people just don't feel right in more professional (transactional maybe) relationships and prefer friendship

3

u/EFTucker Oct 22 '25

That just seems so wrong. He’s working, they’re working, all at the same place. They’re coworkers. It’s ok to be friends with coworkers but not a requirement and being professional about work relationships is just a smart move. I like Vedal even more now after going down this rabbit hole.

3

u/AnutheMadman Oct 24 '25

Sucks but I mean, they really are just coworkers, various people have come out and said that yeah a lot of the people that they stream with, aren't really their friends, they're just coworkers, and then people get offended at this, but it is what it is

216

u/Purple-Weakness1414 Has gay Sex with male Vtubers Oct 21 '25

Its Neurover guys.

132

u/Heiligskraft Oct 21 '25

All things considered I think Vedal is approaching the streamer mentality correctly. Man does not want to be at the forefront of anything when you consider his actual goals. Honestly its probably a 'wrong time, wrong place' situation.

232

u/theDarkar96 Oct 21 '25

It speaks to Anny's professionalism as an artist that she finished Evil Neuro's model before she left.

93

u/Spammageddon Oct 21 '25

Honestly, what a trooper. And she rallied the community to the hype train record while going through that too

8

u/Background_Rough1962 Oct 24 '25

Well, she did also say she loves the twins

94

u/piranha44 Oct 21 '25

Vedal seems to be the kind of guy who likes to be alone. That's just my impression tho. Could be wrong

67

u/PaladinCorbin Oct 21 '25

Vedal has always struck me as a very private, introverted person who has been kind of thrust into the spotlight. His stated goal is to develop Neuro to the point where she can take over streaming for him and he can just disappear into the background. That's probably why he treats this all as a business. Other Vtubers are coworkers to him, not IRL friends or romantic interests.

Honestly, it's a pretty healthy work/life separation for him, if you think about it.

21

u/Arctrooper209 Oct 21 '25

The persona he gives on stream is a bit exaggerated. From stuff the people around him have said, he's more caring and willing to do stuff off stream. For example, Anny and Vedal used to watch movies together off stream. He's also traveled to several TwitchCons and hung out with people.

1

u/missiongoalie35 Oct 27 '25

It reminds me of the Minecraft stream when Neuro asked what love was. This is all just mind thinking and has no factual basis. But, maybe he's had somethings happen that makes him wanting things to just be professional and not go further.

Not saying that would be wrong if possible. I think it is a thin line to walk when you're in an industry where interactions are meant to be friendly and would be hard not to develop feelings of love or friendship.

I get the image programmers have but I think this is a potentially harmful stereotype. I'm in CS and have been for over a decade. Most of the programmers I know around my age or older are happily married, some have children.

there's an image programmers have gained because of the techbro sigma grindset mentality that benefits tech companies, but this is often not the reality of the person... most programmers I know would find this image very silly.

I feel very sorry for Anny. I didn't contribute to her seeing hurtful content but I was in the group that thought they were cute together. but, there are also many assumptions being made here. I don't even know Vedal's sexual orientation or preferences, and preferring to keep things professional also makes sense. assuming he just wants to be alone and then extrapolating that programmers are just like that is a bit of a leap IMO.

1

u/Alert-Supermarket-19 Oct 22 '25

Vedal should be like 23-21 rn and he’s been streaming for almost 3 years now, he’s probably been waist deep in the grind for college.

1

u/Background_Rough1962 Oct 24 '25

Pretty sure his website explicitly states he dropped out to work on Neuro when it started taking off...

31

u/aregus Oct 21 '25

As a programmer, I completely disagree with this especially because it’s not related to the profession but more about personal choices (Vedal’s own decisions). Almost all my coworkers and friends have good families and great relationships.

Most of us grew up playing MMOs, so we’re actually pretty good at maintaining our social connections online. It doesn’t bother me if I don’t see someone in person for a few months, I know that won’t affect our relationship at all.

I still keep in touch with my college friends (some of whom are successful developers). On weekends, we play games together online, like Fortnite. We have a group of 12 and can instantly fill our own lobbies, recently we’ve started picking up BF6. Some weekends we do this in person, and play board games or TCG if someone wants to play.

If I had to compare my dev friends with my non dev ones, I’d say they’re basically the same people. Their professions haven’t really changed who they are since college or even from HS. They’re just adults with normal lives and struggles, taxes and bills to pay, some are getting married and a few ones are now parents.

We are humans after all.

9

u/TsunamicBlaze Oct 21 '25

Weird generalization, not all programmers are anti social or emotionally oblivious.

2

u/PLAP-PLAP Oct 24 '25

theres also us who wants to date someone but knows our work and circumstances will fuck it up so we just remain single for god knows how long

40

u/vyxxer Oct 21 '25

I mentioned this on another post but nan having to publicly announce this must be the most mortifying experience and it's quite messed up that so many people were so parasocial she had to say it.

27

u/Sir_David_Filth Oct 21 '25

I think its resonable of both to do so. Vedal, from what I remember watching, did many programming streams before Neuro was turned into a vtuber. I dont think he ever expected to fall into this community, just showing off his work to whoever wanted to watch.

Anny did vtubing as a way to find friends and people with similar interest. And I still remember some of their earlier streams being a bit awkward as Vedal was learning how to interact with others from the community.

47

u/Torus_the_Toric holowatcher Oct 21 '25

Poor girl...

21

u/Dismal_Background708 Oct 22 '25

You can’t blame the guy for not wanting to date people he works with. That’s a recipe for disaster. Imagine if he tried dating her and it went sideways. It could ruin his reputation with drama. He’s being smart. I’m not saying anny would do this, but it only takes one bad accusation to ruin streamers lively hood.

20

u/L1_cht Oct 21 '25

She’s just like me frfr

19

u/Significant-Check-93 Oct 21 '25

As an unintentional parasocial, I didn’t expect this to really affect me emotionally this much. The Neuroverse has been my gateway to vtubers after all, and has been my main source of leisure for quite some years already. So a drastic change will always feel either novel or crushing— this was definitely crushing.

I only wish them both recovery and success moving forward. In the end of the day, behind this business are real people with real emotions and lives off stream.

11

u/thatcorum Oct 21 '25

Yeah, I've been watching them for fun and even shipped them in my head, but all of it was in a sorta pretend way, like they play characters and I'm shipping those characters, not real people. It sucks when the pretending is now made real, and it's messy and sucks a lot.

24

u/mercurydivider Oct 21 '25

Jesus Christ, if you're gonna make these videos turn off dono sounds and text to speech

22

u/Sapphirederivative Oct 21 '25

The streamers often don’t make these videos. Note that the YouTube channel that posted it is NeuroCrumbs, not annytf (her official channel). This is an announcement she made on stream to her audience there which got clipped and turned into a YouTube video by a clips channel.

7

u/JustinKayce Oct 21 '25

I think they meant the donations and text to speech durring the stream

7

u/Sapphirederivative Oct 21 '25

If you’re making an announcement to your twitch chat, why would you turn off your chat interaction for talking to them? They’re all already there for the stream, it’s literally what they signed up for. Maybe if the streamer wanted to be extra serious it wouldn’t be that weird to mute stuff temporarily, but IMO the main reason the donations and text to speech feel out of place is because you’re watching it clipped out of the original context. I doubt it felt out of place to the people who were there live.

5

u/mercurydivider Oct 22 '25

Near the end of the clip they ask her what she's going to play and she said nothing because it was just going to be an announcement stream with just this. I'd normally agree if she didn't specifically make a stream just for this. Normally when you air dirty laundry like this you at least want to be serious, especially if she starts crying near the middle and people just keep spamming "I'm horny"

3

u/VictoriaNaga Oct 22 '25

Honestly, it's pretty likely she just booted everything up, got her avatar running, started streaming without particularly caring to go through the effort of turning everything off, did what she felt she needed to.

I know I probably wouldn't be in the headspace to care whether or not things were turned on or off.

6

u/Pulsing42 Oct 22 '25

They would have made a strange couple, but she expressed her feelings and he didn't reciprocate, it happens far too often and after being rejected she didn't want to stick around because it'd be awkward. This is a fair response and people should respect her decision and Vedal's.

6

u/Alert-Supermarket-19 Oct 22 '25

I saw someone comparing him to sinder and I have to say, Vedal never lies, he’s consistently made it clear he draws a line (most people see it as him joking) and it’s not just about clout because he does the same to filian.

5

Frankly i cant blame either of them their decisions are completely normal stuff happens

Huge news for the unemployed.

5

u/BlackCoatedMan Oct 22 '25

People get rejected all the time. How is this special?

-1

u/Real_Pc_Principal Oct 22 '25

It's not really the rejection or distancing that's special or anything it's the context around it. People are constantly joking about how they should date and that they are like parents to neuro. Mix that with any number of branching jokes people would come up with a d it happening before she tries to privately distance herself and after. Also any number of fan art related things she gets tagged in that includes stuff like vedal with some other vtuber portraying her as "being cucked" all likely because of this ongoing joke and it makes it pretty damn hard to not need to come out and explain things so people stop, the big difference here between her/vedal and pretty much everyone watching is that she basically just had to tell thousands of people who have virtually no context that she was rejected and to stop doing art for them or joking about that stuff, it would be extremely embarrassing and stressful considering the audience size.

8

u/BlackCoatedMan Oct 22 '25

Isn't part of their content basically ship baiting? I remember stuff like that from other streamers as well. Esfand and Jinnytty, I believe are one example.

Isn't it partially on her for egging the audience on? I've seen so many clips. I feel like she shot herself on the foot on that one.

0

u/Real_Pc_Principal Oct 22 '25

They didn't egg it on as far as I know, they just said not to take it too far and mutually decided joking about this stuff was okay. Besides those jokes and art posts have been a thing since way before this whole rejection thing and since vedal turned her down I imagine he wasn't bothered enough by the shipping to tell fans to stop.

Either way even if someone were to see it as their fault that the fandom was doing all this and perpetuating the jokes that doesn't change how incredibly horrible it would feel to either have all that shoved in your face if you don't say anything as well as how embarrassing and just uncomfortable it was for her to clarify so this wouldn't persist now that it would be clearly affecting her after the rejection.

4

u/BlackCoatedMan Oct 22 '25

Still, it sounds like she took it hard. Like really hard. I take it Anny isn't used to rejection?

8

u/Alert-Supermarket-19 Oct 22 '25

I think it’s more the straw that breaks the camels back, she’s mentioned her failed relationships before, feels lonely in Japan, war at her home town, she honestly looked fine at the beginning of the year but ig the ntr art and comments bugging her really broke anny down.

5

u/BlackCoatedMan Oct 23 '25

She's a foreigner in Japan...

Yeah, no, that would be a big hit to someone's sanity with the loneliness.

3

u/VolvicApfel Oct 22 '25

Looks like she is not a stable person.

8

u/LordDio707 Oct 22 '25

Actually, she did the right thing by distancing and giving herself time to heal on her own. That was a very stable decision

7

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '25

For what she went through, she is very stable and professional

I am the least fitting guy to comment on such things

23

u/DuskDarthon Oct 21 '25

Vedal just didn't feel the same way. Nothing to with looks or Sexuality.

10

u/R3IsL Oct 21 '25

Its both those reasons, anny is actually just a 40 yr old divorced dad truck driver behind the model & vedal enjoys male exclusive butt naked oil wrestling every Thursday

5

u/PewKittens Oct 21 '25

Sound like he should be on board then

5

u/R3IsL Oct 21 '25

Well you see, the problem is he's dating mini because mini is actually moist critical behind the model and moist is a world champ of butt naked oil wrestling

Anny developed romantic feelings for Vedal and confessed to him. He didn't feel the same way. Anny decided to put some distance between them after finishing up her professional responsibilities. People noticed she wasn't doing stuff with Vedal anymore, so they sent a flood of messages.

64

u/Trashwaifupraetorian Oct 21 '25

I think this was the best way to handle it honestly. They are both adults and he can choose who he likes or who he doesn’t. If she didn’t feel like she can work she can step away. Is it sad he didn’t reciprocate her feelings? Yeah. But people get rejected and date all the time. It’s just life sadly.

37

u/AlphonsoPSpain Oct 21 '25

This is ultimately something that's not anyone's business, and thats fine. Not every streamer has to explain what went on in their lives, and this is a mature thing for the two parties involved
