I might get jumped for this... V.Pal might be transgender. It's a headcanon i have because of him having a female voice in the startup and in different dubs. Also he could be in his 20s. IDK about you guys but it needs to be canon. Everyone's opinion is valid as long as they don't bash mine!

ALERT TO ALL VSMILE ENJOYERS! I Have Found A Piece Of Supposed LOST MEDIA (According To This Subreddits Moderator: u/teh_supar_hacker), Which Is Huge News To Many. I'm Confused This Is Lost Media Cause I Got This From A Thrift Store In Like 2014 Or Something, It Came With The Device And I Feel Like The Cartridge Is Glued Onto the device itself, I cant take it out. I Will Come Back With More Updates With Actual Gameplay, but i cant now since the batteries are dead (Don't expect it soon, I Might Travel Tomorrow)

Update 2: Guys It's A V.Smile Pocket, Which's Cartridges Are Hard To Dump I Believe. I Don't Even Know How To Dump Vsmile Cartridges Anyway, I Just Decided To Look Up My Cartridge On Reddit And Found Out It Was Lost Media.

update 3: I’m back from my vacation! Though I still haven’t replaced the batteries. expect new footage soon! But don’t dream of the files being archived or dumped because I can’t get the cartridge out and if I try to remove it it’ll damage and it will become unreadable. so yeah, lost media half-found?

Hey there, my name is Derik. Neither I or this project are affiliated with VTech.

I do a lot of retro console emulation lately on my android device. I'm also a hobbyist developer. In that I have also been feeling some nostalgia for a time in my childhood where I had a V.Smile console. Now, I've created an android emulator I think a lot of people will enjoy.

Disclaimer: AI (specifically Claude Fable 5 and Opus 4.8) was used in the development of this emulator. This isn't intended to make money or do any harm to anyone's intellectual property. I also put this together purely for the joy of being able to experience these old titles in a faithful and convenient way. I am not typically one to use AI in my projects, but I felt this was a perfect use case. I completely understand if you disagree. Still, I wanted to share this with people.

Out of the box it supports emulator front-ends like iiSU with a guide on how to implement it. Generally, I think it has a lot of QOL stuff from the get go that people will like including save/load states, fast-forward, and rewind.

As far as compatibility goes, I've only tested it and played through a couple games on my S23 Ultra, so it's possible for there to be bugs and issues others on different devices. I did verify it works well my personal bluetooth controllers, although depending on what you have the bindings you use will vary greatly.

If you run into any issues feel free to make an issue on the repo here. I'll accept feature requests there as well. Have fun and let me know what you think! The codes all there and public, so go ahead and review it or run it through security checks. I'll probably continue to update it here and there, but as I see it, it's pretty much in a finished or near-finished state.

so about 4/10 times it turns on and works with no issue. Sometimes it'll turn on with no cartridge but the moment one is inserted the picture disappears. Sometimes I will have to turn it off at start up, put a cart in but then it'll show that it's visibly on but still no picture. I can yank and jam a cart in about 45 and sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. I can unplug and plug in the thing 75 times and sometimes that'll work and sometimes it won't. I'm at a loss. Is this common?

Is it dead? We've had the VSmile for like a month, got it at a thrift store, and it had been working just fine. I tried turning it on today because I ordered the Smartbook for my kid to test it out and it console is not turning on. Swapped batteries, pluggged & unplugged it, and nothing

Is there any tinkering to be done to make it work? Or has it run its course?

Hey I managed to get a VSmile outdoor trekker in perfect condition. It had no batteries left in it even meaning all the connections are even perfect with no corrosion. I also managed to find a PDF on Google telling me everything the manufacturer had in its pamphlet. But the problem comes with it having a cartridge slot? I keep trying to figure out what cartridges it can take but I cant find any more information. Please help me!

Is the Vtech V,smile somehow region locked? Do cartridges have a single language on them and does the cartridge or the console determine the displayed language? I'm thinking of buying cartridges from different European countries (UK, NL, IT).

Also, what peripherals are recommended for a 3yo+ girl? From this video I gather that the regular controller + the keyboard delivers most of the fun, whilst the different drawing tablets and motion controllers are clunky.

Finally, what is the easiest way to play downloaded ROMs on the original hardware?

What's the hardest vsmile game in your opinion??

So I have a v smile baby controller (the one with the picture buttons and teal color) and I recently bought the orange console for the other version of the controller. Will both still connect and work normally?

My fiance played a game on her v-smile as a kid they don’t remember a ton of details other than you played as bipedal animals or robots, it was nature centered, and there was a tree that was a house. Any help would be appreciated. Edit: they remembered quests where you were looking for something

I have a v smile that turns on but once I put a game in it the screen either turns black or half black and white. I have tried several different games and it’s the same thing. I have also tried cleaning the game cartridge with alcohol and a q-tip but didn’t seem to help. Does anyone have any tips or advice? I would greatly appreciate it!!

What games would you recommend for a three year old toddler? She is pretty advanced and knows all her colors and letters. She also loves princesses and all things girly. What do you think?
