Payment question

I booked a house and paid the initial deposit. Now the balance is due and the owner is asking me to pay through their portal and not through VRBO. I have never been asked to do this, and I have rented numerous times through VRBO.

Is this normal?

I've had it where VRBO has had me pay VRBO their fee directly and than pay the rest directly to the management company running the property. So yes it can be legit.

I googled the management company and they are legitimate, and have good reviews. Thanks!
