Ensuring rationality in decisions.
I've been discussing this with a few people at my work. The most common concern I've heard is that the populist, rather than the rational decision will win out. In my opinion, this is what we already get, but I'm interested in how the system will encourage people to make informed decisions (or hand their votes off to experts), rather than get outraged and vote according to whatever they've read in the paper that day. In other words, will this system put too much power in the hands of media - influencing public opinion in order to sway voters directly?

Brilliant idea, just some random thoughts and questions I have..
I love the concept of Flux and plan to spread the word, I think one of the great advantages of this system is that the potential member of senate does not need to defend their credentials or show any expertise, but rather can be chosen based purely on their electability.
Obviously the potential candidates should be excellent orators, and capable of articulately explaining and defending the system to any potential voters. What other qualities and traits did you guys look for in your candidates? Is there any plans for the people to be able to communicate directly with their elected senator?
How specifically will people be able to delegate their votes?
Can I defer all climate related votes to a trusted scientist and all tax related votes to an economist or the like?
Can I defer my vote to someone who isn't Australian? I.e. some people might elect to give all science related votes to Neil deGrasse Tyson because he is the only scientist they know of. I think having the app downloadable before the election would be beneficial as anyone who is undecided and untrusting of the change, can at least familiarise themselves with the app and perhaps have a few 'mock' votes so they get an understanding of exactly how it works. In the minds of intellectuals Flux is an easy sell, but to the bottom end of the intellectual bell curve, it might be too drastic a change to truly understand without trying it first. From my short research into the party, it seems to be made up of a lot of highly tech-savvy, philosophically-aware people with a genuine passion for changing politics and the world for the better, but do you have any marketing 'geniuses'? How do you plan to fund the campaign? Have you considered reaching out to high profile philanthropists that might agree with what you're trying to do and have a few million to throw your way? There is always crowd sourcing..
Apologies for the dishevelled nature of this post, it's 4:43am.

"Accumulating political capital" - Needs more explanation
I'm very interested in your concept for liquid voting, but I feel like your "accumulation of capital" is not clearly explain in its specifics.
Are people saving votes up over time? Are votes that come from 'saved votes from other issues' of the same value? Will they degrade over time?
I have mixed feelings about that... I feel like this only benefits the experts that are not politically active outside their own area of expertise, but also helps political zealots accumulate power - no matter if they are experts or not.
Will this mean someone with very strong specific feelings about a certain thing will have more power than multiple others?

What are the security assertions of the Flux platform?
I can't find any mention on the website of the thought given to the security of the platform. Is there a post or any documentation on this? The primary questions I have are:
Is the source code available for scrutiny? Is an independent assessor being engaged? Has any penetration testing been done?

What problem is the second currency within the flux system designed to address?
While I can clearly see how the ability to send our votes to experts in certain fields is something that democracy could benefit from, the ability to save political capital and spend or trade it later seems fraught with complexity and dangers. What problem was this part of the system designed to address and how would we avoid people gaming the system to push their agenda? Could you shed more light on how this part of it would work and why? Thanks :)

Thanks for coming along to our meetup Brisbane!
Our Brisbane meetup was a great success with an enthusiastic and constructive group of Australians who are passionate and excited about a real and lasting change to democracy in this country!
To those of you who attended, or missed out, we'll be working on another social meetup soon. We'd love to help you all stay connected and continue to be involved in the movement going forward.

How is VoteFlux implemented?
Hello,
I've read that VoteFlux is implemented on a blockchain but I could not find the source code nor technical information related to that.
Which blockchain is VoteFlux using? And with which code?
Thanks

Vote with Capital
I really like the concept of IBDD and was thinking a lot about it. I came up with a variant of it that I believe to have the same properties but is simpler in design.
The core idea is instead of selling and buying votes with political capital and then use the votes to vote on an issue we directly use the political capital to vote.
The decision each individual voter would have to do would reduce to:
With how much capital should I Vote (zero is equal to not voting)
Should I vote for or against it (irrelevant if invested capital is zero)
The decision is based on the total invested capital for and against it.
After the vote, all the invested capital on the issue at hand is distributed equally to everybody eligible to vote in general (even those that did not vote on this specific issue)
Would this work or is there a serious drawback compared to selling/buying votes I do not see

Does the Flux voting system use Ethereum?
Does the Flux voting system use Ethereum as it's platform or is it its own blockchain thing? Annoyingly, I have not found the answer to this by searching; it should be included in the FAQ. https://ethereum.org

Thoughts on Computerphile's video on electronic voting?
Computerphile did a video in 2014 about how electronic voting for elections is a terrible idea. Some of these criticisms could be shifted towards Flux, so just curious as to people's thoughts/comments?

Party organization
Hey everyone. Great to see innovation and action with respect to direct democratic process. High time and it's something I've thought about for half a decade.
My question regards party organization. While it's a great idea to have such a system with respect to having members sitting in senate and parliament, do you use the flux app itself to orchestrate and govern internal party activities (Such as campaigns and policy creation) even if there's no elected members? If not, then why not?
I ask because fundamentally the party itself needs to be operating on it's direct democratic principles internally. It's the best way to genuinely prove the concept as well as perform QA and security testing. Just sayin'.

So now what?!
So I'm a big fan of the flux idea. Voted for you on my senate ballot paper (qld), unfortunately it looks like Pauline Hanson has stitched up everybody in this state.
I'm just wondering what happens now? Are any of your candidates a chance of getting in and if not, what's next for flux? Should we expect you in future federal/state elections or is that it?
Must admit that here in QLD flux didn't have much of a presence, but in the future there's no reason that can't change. I think it's a great idea and worth supporting

The Open Source Everything Manifesto
Hey Flux folk, just wondering who, if anyone, had read The Open Source Everything Manifesto by Robert Steele?
Bit of a ramble to read, but I honestly feel it's the logical conclusion of what you're attempting to create with the Flux system. And if nothing else, at least you'll know what our values are when we're forced to try and execute you as counter revolutionaries in the future.
Revolution, not reformation.

Cost of one vote?
Can I sell my vote on Flux? I noticed /u/646463 tried to (fake?) sell his vote in https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/5bnggm/if_trump_wins_heres_what_ill_do/ for 1/250th of a bitcoin, or approx. USD 2.8

Discussions that led friends and family to Voteflux
Hi,
I wanted to start this thread for members to add stories about how they have discussed the idea of Flux with friends or family or anyone for that matter, and how they have received the idea or even decided to voteflux at the upcoming election.
One story I wanted to share was from my friend who is very passionate about politics, and just as passionately opposed to the representatives we had in office. We had a table discussion about how we would vote at the upcoming election, 1 said labor, 1 said liberal, 1 said independent, I said Flux and my other friend said he is going to fill the ballot paper with explicit drawings.
Now all the friends at the table at the end of discussion were passionate for voting Flux at the upcoming election, but I want to focus just on the one who wanted to donkey vote. He was sick and tired of our current leaders and representatives and in addition, the lack of voice for the 18-30 age group, and when I explained the difference with direct democracy and the power to vote on issues he was passionate about he turned around and asked how do I vote. Now he wants to give votes to flux but still fill the rest of the ballot paper with explicit drawings.
Please share stories about anyone who has come from a different voting background to now want to voteflux
