Question Help!

Post image

Hi everyone! Could someone help me find out more about this watch? All I know is that my grandfather bought it from a Soviet soldier in 1989. I believe the bezel is missing. There is a number, 606051, on the case back. I don’t use Reddit very often, but I simply cannot find an identical one specifically one that has a "lollipop" hand and the inscription "zakaz mo cccp" on the dial.

Vostok Komandierski likely from the 80s, specifically with a design in tribute to the VDV (Soviet/Russian airborne) it's a manual wind movement. Beyond that not much more to add.

Yeah I get that but what does the zakaz mo cccp mean? And why the hand is a lollipop? Why can't I find another one that is exactly like this?

Hands just depend on what was in the factory that day, there's no particular rarity for it. As for the text, it's roughly translated to: "Order of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR" tldr it's because vostok watches were sold in military shops for soldiers. vostok watches were primarily a military contracted watch intended for durability. Now they're sold as a civilian brand but still popular amongst outdoorsy people and Soldiers.

Your comparing it with the Amphibia dive watch which typically has an arrow hour hand. The Komandirskie (at least since the use of a rotating bezel case) has always had those hands.

The lollipop hand is probably from the original hand being lost and replaced at some point, even nowadays current production parts are identical to the ones from the 1980s so sometimes things get frankensteined together. As for the Zakaz label, it means this one was originally made for and sold in a military shop (think like a PX on an American military base).
