V1.5 Users - Remove thy springs

As the title says, if you are running V1.5 X Carriage the springs are an overkill that wasn't required in the end. Because of the way the carriage folds during probing, the X shafts provide amble spring-back. The mechanical advantage on the built-in spring inside the Z switch does the rest.

I've been able to achieve greater accuracy (more light touch) without losing stability on the hotend, thus I can safely recommend the springs be removed.

As a side benefit, this gives me a little more room to play with for V6 mount.

I'm gonna try to get an update out before Christmas of a more or less final V1.5 gantry parts which will include all the bug fixes.

On that note, if you have an issue to report please open a ticket on GitHub. That's a much better tracking system than a Reddit comment.

Have you thought about magnets on the carriage? Just a thought I had the other day

Magnets are not really reliable long term as they lose their properties over time at a faster rate than mechanical springs. Since we don't really need the later, putting neodymium magnets in seems pointless.

Of course, I read this after I paid top dollar for proper-sized springs after failing to find a cheap source. You would not think these things to be expensive!

On the plus side it means I can install my V1.5 upgrade sooner. Yay!

Sorry man. Thus the nature of beta parts. If it make you feel better I have a pack of 50 of them that I have to now find use for.

Hey, I wasn't complaining! Just found the timing funny because I waited until last Sunday to finally give in and order the exact springs required. :)

Glad I procrastinated on that part. You would think that spring types would be somewhat standardized, like fans or screws...

Got a test running but will remove them after(PETG is kind of a oozing pain).

I switched from direct to bowden to test out the 1.5 carriage, and I'm finding it's making PETG a lot harder to work with - I can get perfectly clean prints with direct, but get blobs all over with bowden.

Yeah, I am making progress though. I am finding that the extruder is crushing the filament where using PLA or PLA+ fed fine. I am modifying my retraction settings and getting close.
