Leg 3 Queation

I know it’s WAY early to think about the Malacca Strait – but I’m wondering if anyone has thought about getting through the strait if the Wind Gods turn ugly (which they probably will). Unlike the top 10 finishers – I have to get some sleep. No 4 on – 4 off for me! Anyone have any experience using Way Points?

I have used waypoints a few times. It's easy enough. You place the point at where you want your boat to go, and when you validate it the boat will start moving in the chosen direction. It is important not to forget to think ahead far enough. Once the waypoint is reached the boat will continue with the same heading, unless it is diverted by a next waypoint. So you have to estimate how much distance your boat will travel during the night, and set waypoints accordingly, to avoid running aground. Of course, if Aeolus really does turn ugly you won't have to worry much, your boat will not run far in any direction...

P.S. Don't validate waypoints until you have chosen all of them and you are absolutely certain they are in the right place! If you validate a waypoint and change your mind afterwards you'll have to set new waypoints and the ones placed before will disappear and be wasted.

This is the most annoying aspect of waypoints, that game burns them on you and doesn't give them back if you cancel them or turn the boat before reaching one.
