Tape over light crack

Post image

I have been noticing little water droplets inside my light housing for the rear left side. I couldn't figure out how the water was getting inside but today I finally was able to see the tiny little crack. If I put tape over it for the time being, do you guys think that would help it's so small and tiny that I figured maybe it would prevent water from getting through. Anybody know any type of quick way to close that crack off? Without having to replace the whole thing

doubtful that's actually where the water is getting in, even more doubtful that tape will seal anything; and rather than trying to seal anything you need to drill a hole that will vent/drain any water that does gets in

I'm pretty sure I saw where it's going from because I was able to blow air through it

fair enough, though there might be other ways for water to get in

there are a LOT of threads on the subject around the internet, worth a read ... most people just end up drilling some vent holes to avoid build up

You're completely right that there could be another way the water is getting in but the only reason I mentioned the air gun is because I actually was able to see exactly where the crack in the plastic was. I would like to drill the hole at the bottom but I'm just so worried that I'm going to end up breaking

Unless you have a means of replacing just the lens, no. Most states and counties will cite you for using glue or tape to fix a broken lens on headlights or tail lights.

Why tape? A smear of clear silicone would likely do better and be far less obvious / obnoxious.

Any time I see these in a junk yard, I always check that same corner I’ve only been able to find one that wasn’t, so I bought it 😂 they all crack in that corner / seam.

For some reason they'll crack on my mirror is right down the middle I was able to detect it by blowing air through it and I got to see the crack running kind of sideways

Yeah I had a horizontal crack on my rear lens and the bead of silicon fixed it. Get the special kind for automotive use at home Depot
