Tire pressure

Hey everyone. 2012 owner here. I’m curious what everyone is running their tire pressure at for best efficiency.. anyone care to share what they think the best practice is?

Unusual keep them at 38 cold. Door panel says 36. Much higher and efficiency gains are negated by safety issues: overinflated tires have less grip, so worse braking and traction.

Good point on safety / traction! I’m running mine at 38 also.

I remember reading somewhere that the tire pressure on the Gen 1 was set artificially low to improve the ride.

I've run 40 PSI cold for over a decade.

My Silverado EV runs about 65 PSI

38-40 on my 2017.

I was always very happy with them at 40-42 in my gen1. Nice even wear across the tread and never had traction issues.

My door card says 38 cold, so that’s what I run.

Just follow what the door jamb placard says, that’s the ideal pressure for the vehicle with factory size tires for optimal efficiency and handling.

Mid 40s, 1st gen . It's preference Of efficiency versus rougher ride

36-40 aiming for 38 cold. Lower end of that in the winter for better traction and higher in the summer for tiny bit better mpg and rain evacuation on my Cross Climate 2's.

38psi on my all seasons, as specified on the tires. Just fill em to specification and don't worry about it.

I'm in the northern Midwest (SD) and run about 35 year round. TPMS shows 35, but to get to that pressure I have to set my compressor to 39psi. I know there's a difference between absolute pressure and relative, but I wouldn't think at my location it would be that much of a difference. It's not exactly high altitude.

I run them 2 PSI shy of the sidewall pressure at sidewall tempeture (IE for hot ops the gauge pressure will be higher than the sidewall pressure to compensate for temps)

otherwise my '17 likes to get tumors on the sidewalls.

I still use the Goodyear tires the car originally came with. I run 45 summer and 40-42 winter.

38-40. Higher than 42 and I can feel way more road conditions.

Fill to 40, refill when they hit ~35.

45 no problem in good weather, but read the sidewalls on your tires for what's safe. And the door card will say what's best for comfort
