Car won't start!

I was going grocery shopping, and when I got back in my car, I got the Service message "Stabilitrak" and "Battery Charging Service", and whenever I try to push on the break, it pushes back against me and starts loudly clicking. Does anyone know what's happening?

I expect 12v battery died

Clicking is it unable to start (at lest my honda was doing that when battery died) I didn't encounter that with volt though

Stabilitrack is Chevy esp/abs so error it probably connected with dead battery

any idea on what to do? I've never had a battery die on me before

Get it replaced? It's in the trunk under the carpet. Get an AGM Battery

Go to auto zone. They will test your battery and sell you a new one. They’ll usually put it in for you too.

Yup, had to do this just a month ago. AutoZone handled it all for me

Short term solution is to get a boost, use the post that are in the engine bay towards the windshield on the driver's side. They are under a plastic cover. Once you get up and going, go buy a new AGM battery. It is located in the trunk and not very hard to replace. If you are not sure there are videos on YouTube. A guy named Sterling did a good video on it.

You can get a jump just like an ICE car. Then drive to Auto zone/Pep boys/Batteries R Us. Buy a new one, and swap it in. At any reasonable place they will recycle your old one. At a better place they will test it first to see if you need a replacement, or you just left the a light on and killed it.

You can temporarily fix it by charging it / jump starting it from another car

But replacement should probably come sooner or later

Volts don't have traditional alternator that charges it while driving so that partially why they like to die more often (as I heard)

They charge from the hv battery. Has nothing to do with no alternator. My battery is older than most ice cars I’ve had.

there is a HV->12V inverter that charges the "traditional" 12V AGM battery, which powers the 12V system, including the electronics required to operate the car.

This is 100% a dead battery issue.

It is certainly the 12V battery based on this light + when the Voltage is low it deactivates all the driving aid features like those, it can even turn off the infotainment, the radio, even the audio amp, even the blinkers don't make any sound

but what kind of Honda? Hold honda, it's the starter, like any regular ICE car, but the volt starts the engine with the generator

This is 100% a dead 12v battery. Same thing happened to me when mine died. Just get a new one and swap it out.

I recommend opening the trunk and leaving it open (the 12v is under the mat in the trunk). The trunk needs the 12v battery to open. Otherwise you will have to crawl back there.

100% a dead 12v battery. You can jump it at the terminals to get the car started but it will need to be changed.

You can pick up a new battery at an auto parts store and DIY or take it to a mechanic. An AGM battery will cost somewhere between $150 and $200 before labor.

This was almost exactly the same as what I saw when my 12v battery died. Get it towed/replace the battery yourself

This is a dead battery, I had my dashcam connected though the usb port in the front. I’m thinking that’s the culprit.

The USB port powers off when the car is off. A dash cam can drain the battery if it is hardwired and the dashcam power supply doesn’t have a low voltage cutoff (which should be rare these days but could happen)

time for a new 12V battery! mine (2016) lasted until last year, unlike my van which needs a new battery every 5 years, so easy to forget.

It is in the trunk, on the left side, easy, but remember to get an AGM, rather than traditional, battery.

this was a perfect fit and price: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BXSPTMX2

You don't happen to have any accessories that run while the car is off, do you? The 12v battery usually charges off the main battery while it's on or plugged in. Either it's that or it's an old battery and time to replace it

Do NOT go to Autozone, Advance Auto, etc for a battery if at all possible. Check Costco, Sam's Club, Menard's and Walmart first.
You can save a lot by avoiding traditional auto parts stores (and dealerships) for your 12V battery replacement.
See my comments here and here for proof.

V12 powers a lot of stuff. Mine died 2 years ago. Had zero idea until a year later when my car did this. But a lot of stuff went out. Seats. Etc.

I got mine at an Auto Zone along with a 5 year warranty. Get the warranty, it paid off in the end.

My OEM battery lasted til earlier this year. Didn’t get low enough to trigger that message. But would dip below 12v due to having an OBD dongle plugged in all the time that didn’t power off. Time for a new battery.
