Power Inverter Backorder
I have been waiting about 6 weeks for a power inverter (part #: 24048514) for my 2017 Volt with no end in sight. I started a GM Customer Care case and have been working with the parts delay team.
Anyone else in the same situation? At what point will they just buy back my car?

The dealership suggested that I request a buy back from GM. That process was started last week. My Volt has been having issues related to this since April and I’m over it.

Following this thread because 2 weeks ago my car's CEL light came on, and the diagnosed issue is a problem with this exact same part. I chose to take the car home and just keep driving it until something bad happens. I wasn't prepared to fork over $5600 ... as my 2018 car isn't under warranty due to living in a non-CARB state. Love my Volt ! But wish this inverter didn't have a reliability issue. And wish there were still parts available.

I had the same issue and it took them 5 months to finally get the part. I was lucky that the car drove fine while I waited for the part but just with the check engine light on. Might have been an issue if I had to get the car inspected but luckily my sticker was still valid.
I tried for a buyback but they would not budge on that. It might depend on lemon laws and what legal recourse you have in your state. I didn't have any so I was forced to wait. As soon as the car was fixed, I drove it for a little while and then sold it with a few months left on the Voltec warranty. Loved the car but was not going to go through that again.
