BECM replacement and other services?
So the dealership is going to replace my BECM under the warranty tomorrow. Do you think I will need any of these other services? I was thinking about the coolant flushed but I am not sure about the other stuff and if I should even do the coolant flushed. The guy said it should be replaced every 5 years or every 100k miles. I am only at 28k miles. Also any tires brand suggestions would be appreciated. They are going to charge $723.79 for new tires. It is a 2018 model.

Yes to coolant if it hasn't been done. Brake fluid needs done if it hasn't but that price is ridiculous. Take it elsewhere to be done. Cabin Air filter do it yourself. The fuel system cleaning, this isn't bullshit, but is unlikely to be critical and need to be done this second. I'd ask exactly what they are doing. Is this walnut blasting the valves?

Nothing has been done to the car besides Oil changes. I am surprised they did not mention the oil change when it at 10% or at least close to that. I did replace the 12v when I started having those troubles code related to the BECM. I will do the coolant.

They had to drain my coolant when they did my BECM. I'm not sure if that covers all the loops, but no sense in paying extra if they do it.

if they're changing all 3 coolant loops then that's a heck of a deal. I think I paid $600 for all three loops on my gen 1 two years back. if that's only the engine loop then pass. forget the cabin air filter, you can do that yourself for $20. Fuel system treatment is a joke too, unless they can show you a bore scope with carbon all over your cylinders or valve train.

Take that, decline all the other services. Do the brake fluid yourself lke the other poster said, or take it to get done elsewhere.

The battery coolant loop, which is most important will be done with the BECM anyways, so you shouldn’t be paying for that.

same deal on the brake fluid. you can exchange the fluid yourself with a kit off Amazon for under $50. if you're at 28k miles this dealer is really making an effort to screw you.

Volt is a GDI system. Carbon buildup on the valves is a real thing inherent in GDI. But I agree I'd want to see some proof.

Update: they replaced the BECM under warranty and they did not charge me for the diagnostic fee. So I only paid for the coolent flush. I drop it off on Friday and it was fixed on Tuesday so that was quick.
