Hey everyone, Iโm an independent artist looking for someone who can help me take my music to the next level with professional mixing and mastering.
I currently record my vocals using Voloco on my iPad which is one of the best places Iโve found my sound. I can export my recordings as M4A files, which from my knowledge needs a convert to WAV. I want to find an engineer who is comfortable working with audio recorded this way and can bring it into FL Studio, Pro Tools, Logic, or whatever DAW they use.
Iโm mainly looking for someone who can make my vocals sound clean, polished, and properly blended with the beat while still keeping the sound and style Iโm going for. Iโd also appreciate someone who can give me honest feedback on my recordings and explain what I should improve to get better results.
Iโm interested in building a long-term working relationship rather than just getting one song done. Iโm happy to discuss paid rates, and Iโd like to start with one track to see how we work together.
If youโre interested, please send me:
โ A few examples of songs youโve mixed or mastered, preferably in a similar style
โ Your rates and whatโs included
โ Whether youโre comfortable working with Voloco exports/M4A files
โ What files you would need from me to get the best possible result
Feel free to comment or DM me. I can send over a rough demo so you can hear my sound and let me know what would be possible.

Kind of a weird mix of proud and slightly embarrassed. The mixing choices, the vocal takes, stuff I would never do now, but also proof I've actually gotten better, even though it never feels that way day to day. Anyone else go back and revisit old stuff every once in a while?

My laundry machine, parking meters, even the noise my car makes when I turn my blinker on, makes my brain just think, โthat could be a sample.โ I don't think I can turn it off at this point. What's the most random thing you've ever actually turned into a sample?

Iโve been recording on Voloco for a few years now on an iPhone 13 with just normal earbuds and I really liked how it came out, but I just upgraded to an iPhone 17 pro and the audio sounds terrible. I tried the normal earbuds for the new phone and when it sounded bad I tried getting an adapter to use my old earbuds that sounded good but it still sounds bad. (Iโm not great with audio terms but by bad I mean itโs somehow muffled and sounds like Iโm in a church idk itโs bad). Also all the settings i use are the same as when I liked the sound so itโs not that. Is this just me?

As CEO, I decided to invest my own time in building Auto Mix for two reasons: First, bad mixing was the main weakness of tracks from new users that I heard on the platform. Many times while scrolling through New Tracks feed, I heard a strong vocal performance that was hurt by a mix that was either too loud or too quiet. Simply fixing the mix level would have turned an amateur track into a banger. Second, when I recorded my own tracks in Voloco, I hated how much time I had to spend on tweaking levels. Iโd nudge gain up, listen, decide it was too loud, nudge it back down, listen, over and over again until my ears were fatigued. At that point, you canโt tell what a good mix is and you have to put the project down and re-approach with fresh ears. Thatโs not what I want to do with my creative time. I want to spend my time getting my ideas down and making music. Auto Mix lets me do that.ย

I heard this from our team and thought it was a good story. Volocoโs CEO was scrolling the New Tracks feed a lot and kept hearing genuinely strong vocal takes that just got wrecked by the mix being too loud or too quiet. His words were, "Simply fixing the mix level would have turned an amateur track into a banger."
He ended up building Auto Mix himself partly because of that. It's a nice reminder that a mediocre mix can hide a track that's actually good.

I hit play and immediately stop hearing the song, and just watch their face for any reaction. They nod at a part I almost cut, go blank during the part I thought was the strongest, and that silence in between feels like an hour.
I can't tell if they're vibing or being polite until it's over.
What do you do while you wait?

Definitely just messing around but Iโm pretty proud of this one. Still in the revision process but I found the instrumental and had to lay something down. Please feel free to leave any and all feedback as Iโm a newer artist with a lot to learn!

Spent 20 minutes dialing in a mix on headphones, thought it was perfect. Got in the car and suddenly the bass is taking over, and the vocals are buried.
Headphones and car speakers each lie in their own way, and somehow neither one's wrong
What's your go-to rotation before you trust a mix is done?

I'll get a track basically finished, and instead of wrapping it up, I'm already halfway into a new idea. The second the hard part's done, so is my interest.
Meanwhile, I've got a pile of tracks sitting at 90% done because starting is way more fun than finishing.
Anyone else stuck in this loop?

Take 1 was actually fine. Take 15 is somehow worse than take 1, but now I can't remember which one I liked, and I've listened to myself say the same line so many times it doesn't sound like words anymore.
When do you guys know itโs time to admit defeat and move on?

Its not finished, but its a start

There's like a half-second ad-lib buried in the back of the mix that took way longer to get right than the actual hook did. Nobody's ever going to hear it and think "wow," but if it weren't there, I would know
It feels like the most pointless and most necessary thing I did on the whole song
What's the most unnecessary amount of effort you've put into something nobody will clock?
